[EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW] SUPER JUNIOR D&E Discusses What Hasn't Changed During 10 Years of Duet - When They Miss Each Other EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW SUPER JUNIOR D&E

Kapanlagi.com - SUPER JUNIOR D&E has just made a comeback with their first full album titled COUNTDOWN, with the title track ZERO. This sub unit of SUPER JUNIOR will also celebrate their 10th debut anniversary in December.

KapanLagi Korea had the opportunity to interview DONGHAE and EUNHYUK. Not only did they talk about their highly anticipated comeback, but the two friends also shared various moments they have experienced together. Let's take a look at the complete interview!

The idea of making a parody CF is really funny! How did you come up with it?

EUNHYUK: This is our 10th year as D&E, so it would be great if we could provide different content from before for our fans. Finally, we talked to our agency. Among the many ideas we gave, the idea of making a parody CF for promotion seems good. Finally, we use the concept of that idea. We are preparing to entertain.

D&E have tried many concepts and genres, what do you want to convey to fans through the new album?

DONGHAE:  We have tried many concepts. In the future, we also want to try many new things. We cannot meet E.L.F. because of the pandemic. In the end, we chose ZERO as the title of the song. Besides that, because of this pandemic, we feel like nothing without E.L.F. We have no meaning, ZERO or nothing without E.L.F. And that's why we chose the title ZERO.

DONGHAE and EUNHYUK together, what hasn't changed between the two?

EUNHYUK: What hasn't changed about DONGHAE is his passion for making good songs. Even though it's tiring to make songs, I can see the passion in his face never changes.

DONGHAE: What hasn't changed about EUNHYUK is his speaking skill.

EUNHYUK: Aah~ He can do anything!

DONGHAE: I still remember his speaking ability since junior high school. He suddenly touched my hair, and then he said, "What are you doing with your hair?" How can he have a topic to talk about.

EUNHYUK: I think that was just an excuse to touch your hair.

DONGHAE: Seems like it. He's skilled in speaking.

Memories that you will never forget as D&E during this debut?

EUNHYUK: The most memorable memory is when we toured with SUPER JUNIOR because we had a busy schedule, we would immediately return to Korea and work again after the concert. D&E could still go sightseeing and try delicious food after the concert ends. That's the most memorable memory.

For DONGHAE, how does it feel to collaborate with a young idol from a different generation and a far age gap? TMI when was the first collaboration with JENO?

DONGHAE: The first time I met JENO was when he was still a trainee. He also told me that he wanted to become a singer, a skilled musician, and hoped to perform with me. When making this album, I thought about collaborating with him. After knowing that there would be a solo performance, I wanted to give something different. I wanted to give different music from before. That's when I remembered my conversation with JENO. I then invited him to meet and we ate together while discussing this song and playing the song for him. JENO accepted it positively and finally the collaboration song between us was made.

For EUNHYUK, what genre does EUNHYUK like, and is that genre reflected in your digital single this time?

EUNHYUK: Actually, I like Hip-hop or Funky genre, something cheerful. But in this song, I want to show something that I have never shown or seen before. With a Pop genre song, I can show it to the fans.

What do DONGHAE or EUNHYUK often say, their words that are repeated until it gets boring to hear?

EUNHYUK: Instead of his words, I remember he has a word that he always has to write when chatting.
DONGHAE: Oh really?
EUNHYUK: Man~
DONGHAE: Oh, that.
EUNHYUK: In any conversation. 'Man~ have you eaten?', 'Man~ Goodnight!', 'I saw your music video. Cool, Man!'. Why do you really like to use that word?
DONGHAE: Because we're guys, not moms.
EUNHYUK: At that time, he often said 'Man'.
DONGHAE: We are guys.

DONGHAE: I don't remember it much but there's one thing, I don't know if he meant it as a joke or what.
EUNHYUK: That's because I was hungry.
DONGHAE: He suddenly did something weird in the middle of the conversation. Like that.

What are each of your habits before recording?

DONGHAE: We are already here for recording. We meet many people. But I don't record immediately, instead I invite the staff to eat and chat. We create a relaxed atmosphere. We discuss about the album and how to make it successful. That's what I want to do before recording. That's why I always invite them to eat and chat first.

EUNHYUK: For me, it's the opposite. Before recording, I try not to talk as much as possible, I try to save my energy. So that I can focus and give my maximum during recording.

Between the two of you, who is the hardest to wake up when they're sleeping?

EUNHYUK: Have you been easy to wake up lately? We are living separately now, so I don't really know.
DONGHAE: I am someone who is easy to wake up. Even when we were living together in the dorm, although I was often woken up, I also woke up a lot. Now, because I live alone, I have to wake up by myself. Because there is no one who comes to wake us up, right?

EUNHYUK: So you're easy to wake up now?
DONGHAE: Yes, I am easy to wake up.
EUNHYUK: We have grown up now.
DONGHAE: I usually wake up at 9 am. Or sometimes in the morning, I wake up at 8 am.
EUNHYUK: So you wake up early.
EUNHYUK: We wake up early now.

When the two of you are not working on a project together, do you miss each other often?

EUNHYUK: I miss you...
DONGHAE: I have experienced missing you once.
EUNHYUK: When was that?
DONGHAE: During mandatory military service.
DONGHAE: After that, I never felt it again.
EUNHYUK: Didn't you miss me when I debuted solo?
DONGHAE: Oh yes, that's right. That's right. When I debuted solo, you sent a chat, right? I felt that solo debut was important and a valuable experience for me. But in the future, I want to be given the opportunity to perform together. We have plenty of time to perform together, and I even told him that it would be more enjoyable if we could perform together.
