Kapanlagi.com - Choo Young Woo and Cho Yi Hyun will soon meet Korean drama lovers through the romantic comedy HEAD OVER HEELS. Posters, teasers, and behind-the-scenes footage of this drama have circulated on social media, making fans eager to see their adorable chemistry.
Recently, KapanLagi Korea had the opportunity to interview Choo Young Woo and Cho Yi Hyun. Let's check out their interview before HEAD OVER HEELS airs!
1. Interview
Kapanlagi: My first question for Choo Young Woo. What is the uniqueness of Gyeon-U that makes viewers fall in love with him at first sight?
Choo Young Woo: I have to say that the unique charm of Gyeon-U is how he doesn't talk much, he's not the chatty type, and he keeps many secrets. In my opinion, the mysterious aura surrounding him and the enigmatic impression he has are charms that will captivate everyone.
KapanLagi: Next question for Cho Yi Hyun. What kind of preparation did you do to become a shaman? Did you research how a paranormal works or meet a real shaman to delve into the character?
Cho Yi Hyun: Yes, I learned a lot, and we even had a real shaman on set. My advisor guided me in various movements or attitudes and the sequence of rituals. Before we started shooting, I practiced a lot because things like this cannot be learned instantly. While the real shamans, every time they perform a shamanic ritual, they are truly spiritually connected with their gods, right? But for me, since I am not a real shaman, I consider all of this as a performance, like theater, more or less. So in preparing these rituals, I imagine in my mind that I am putting on a theater show and I am greatly assisted by the advice and guidance from the shamans on site, and it is a pleasant experience.
KapanLagi: For Choo Young Woo again. Is there a certain trait or character of Gyeon-U that makes you sympathetic towards him while portraying him?
Choo Young Woo: I think throughout my portrayal of Gyeon-U, I continuously felt very sympathetic towards him. And itâs not just Gyeon-U that I feel sorry for. I also feel sympathy and pity for Seong-A, because itâs not as if she wants to be a shaman. She must want to live her life as an ordinary school girl, experiencing a teenage life filled with love stories, but there are so many things she has to sacrifice to become a shaman. For me, such a life must be very hard for her. And now that I think about it, maybe Gyeon-U is actually more interested in her because, unconsciously, he also has similar thoughts.
KapanLagi: Question for Cho Yi Hyun again. If you had visions like Seong-A, would you like it? Or do you consider it a curse?
Cho Yi Hyun: I donât see it as a curse or a loss, but Iâve heard that being a shaman is not something one can choose, right? Iâve heard and seen through documentaries that they canât just refuse or stop being a shaman. Even if they donât want to take that path, their lives seem to be predetermined, truly inevitable. So I think, I will just accept it as my fate, even though it will feel a bit sad.
KapanLagi: Next question for both of you. This is the second time you are working together, what do you think when you know you are collaborating again? And is it easier to build chemistry?
Cho Yi Hyun: It feels really nice to meet Young Woo again, because this is our second time working together, so we feel very comfortable with each other. Before actually meeting again for this production, I was a bit nervous because I thought, since it has been quite a while since we last met, it might feel a bit awkward at first. But it turns out it wasn't like that at all. We quickly got used to each other, and I think this shooting process went very smoothly and seamlessly.
Choo Young Woo: When I first heard that I would be working with Yi Hyun, I was really happy because, you know, in the acting world you never act alone. Acting is a reciprocal process, and who your co-star is very important. I always feel a bit nervous before knowing who I will be working with, because I could meet someone for the first time. But this time, after finding out that I would be acting with Yi Hyun, I felt very relieved and happy because I already knew her very well, including how great she is as an actress. I have always followed her works, so I knew there was nothing to worry about.
