In today's era, almost everyone around the world is familiar with and aware of the existence of the K-Pop industry. Growing rapidly, K-Pop fans are loved by various age groups. There are a number of Boy Groups and Girl Groups that have become successful and popular because of their work. However, behind all of that, debuting as a member of a Boy Group or Girl Group is definitely not easy.

This is because in reality, a group easily encounters various problems, such as an idol's past life or imbalances in popularity among members. Having personal issues or facing accusations, there are several K-Pop idols who decide to leave the group that made their name. After officially leaving, these K-Pop idols decide to start a new career as soloists. From B.I ex iKON to Jinni ex NMIXX, here are 8 K-Pop idols who debuted solo after leaving their group!

Sunmi, formerly known as one of the members of the girl group Wonder Girls, debuted in 2007. After three years, in 2010, Sunmi decided to go on hiatus and leave Wonder Girls. Sunmi returned to the entertainment industry and made her solo debut in August 2013 by releasing the digital single 24 Hours. Currently, Sunmi is known as one of the prominent solo artists in Korea.

HyunA gained public recognition when she joined the girl group Wonder Girls in 2007. After a few months of debut, she decided to leave Wonder Girls. In 2009, HyunA made her debut again as a member of 4Minute. While being a member of 4Minute, HyunA started her solo career in 2010 by releasing the single Change. After that, HyunA has been known for being active and focused on her solo career, releasing several mini albums.

Debut as a soloist, JINI was previously a member of the Girl Group gen 4, NMIXX. Just a few months after debut, on December 9, 2022, JYP Entertainment announced that JINI officially left NMIXX. In 2023, JINI started her career as a soloist by releasing the Mini Album AN IRON HAND IN A VELVET GLOVE on October 11th. Her debut as a soloist successfully gained attention and support from fans.

K-Pop idol Chuu became known for joining the Girl Group Loona, which debuted in 2016. Almost six years after debut, on November 25, 2022, the agency that oversees Loona, BlockBerry Creative, announced that Chuu was expelled from the group. Currently, Chuu has started her career as a soloist by releasing the Mini Album HOWL on October 18, 2023. With her official solo debut, Chuu will soon hold a concert tour HOWL in the United States.

Leaving the group due to bullying allegations, Soojin will soon debut as a solo artist. Previously, Soojin was known as one of the members of the 4th generation Girl Group, (G)I-DLE, who debuted in 2018. Three years after their debut, Soojin announced her departure from the group in August 2021 due to allegations of bullying during her school days. Returning to the entertainment industry, Soojin will soon debut as a solo artist by releasing a Mini Album on November 8th.

Proving his popularity, B.I became one of the renowned male solo artists in Korea. Before debuting as a solo artist, B.I was a member of the Boy Group iKON, who debuted in 2015. However, in 2019, B.I or Hanbin announced his departure from iKON due to a drug-related case. Deciding to become a solo artist, B.I restarted his career by debuting as a solo artist in 2021.

Once a hot topic of conversation, Woojin is starting his career as a solo artist. Kim Woojin became known for his debut as a member of the Boy Group Stray Kids in 2018. Just one year after his debut, Woojin decided to leave Stray Kids in 2019 for personal reasons. Now, Woojin has started his new career as a solo artist. He officially debuted by releasing a mini album on August 5, 2021.

K-Pop idol Wonho is currently known as one of the famous solo artists in Korea. However, before debuting as a solo artist, Wonho was a member of the Boy Group Monsta X, which debuted in 2015. However, due to a controversy, Wonho decided to leave Monsta X on October 31, 2019. Starting his career again, Wonho officially debuted as a solo artist in September 2020 by releasing a song titled Open Mind.
