DK iKON Fascinated by Dangdut Songs, Wants to Learn Indonesian Language

Kapanlagi.com - Kim Donghyuk, or better known by his stage name DK, admits that he was fascinated when he heard dangdut songs. In fact, one of the members of the Korean boy band iKon, was taught by the singer Judika to sing it.

"The first time I heard dangdut songs, I was taught by Judika. At that time, I heard it live, and I was really impressed and fascinated by dangdut songs. From there, I learned that dangdut is a tradition of Indonesian society," said DK via Zoom on Tuesday (24/10/2023).

1. Collaboration with Selfi Yamma

Now, DK will participate in the latest program from Indosiar titled DANGDUT KPOP 29THER. He will collaborate with Selfi Yamma, a graduate of LIDA. He admits that he is curious about how dangdut music will be combined with K-Pop music.

"Thank you for allowing me to participate in this program. This will be one opportunity to get to know Indonesia and its culture. I am curious about the collaboration between dangdut and K-Pop music. The result of this collaboration will definitely be great, and it has piqued my interest and challenge," said DK.

2. Willing to Learn Indonesian Language

DK hopes that he will be able to sing dangdut songs using the Indonesian language.

"If possible, I would like to sing in Indonesian. Because I also want to learn the Indonesian language. This will be a challenge for me," he said.

3. Dangdut x K-Pop

The DANGDUT KPOP 29THER event is a collaboration between Indosiar and Encast Studio, which houses big names in the K-Pop music industry. Each dangdut and K-Pop star will present a rearranged dangdut song in the style of K-Pop.
