Meteor Garden to Boys Before Flowers have unique love stories between arrogant and rough rich men and determined poor girls. This drama, inspired by the Japanese comic Hana Yori Dango, has been made in various versions, both official adaptations (with permission) and those inspired by the story.

One of the memorable characters is the F4 leader who changes after falling in love. The actors range from Jerry Yan to the newest one, Bright Vachirawit.

Long before it was made into a series in several countries, Hana Yori Dango was adapted into a film in 1995. The actor who played the F4 leader alias Tsukasa Domyoji was Shosuke Tanihara, who is now 49 years old.

This is legendary. The first leader of F4 in the Taiwanese version of METEOR GARDEN which aired in 2001. He is Jerry Yan who played Daoming Si and successfully made all of Asia (maybe even the world) caught the METEOR GARDEN and F4 fever in the early 2000s.

In 2002, Indonesia once made a soap opera titled Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta, which had a story similar to the early METEOR GARDEN. Indra Bruggman played Indra, the leader of F4. This soap opera was remade in 2017 called Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta Reborn, with the main character being Vino Adijaya played by Verrell Bramasta.

Japan finally made its own adaptation of the comic Hana Yori Dango with the same title. The leader of F4, Tsukasa Domyoji, was played very well by Jun Matsumoto.

South Korea created BOYS BEFORE FLOWERS which became popular everywhere. The leader of F4 in the Korean version is named Gu Jun Pyo played by Lee Min Ho. Because of this role, Lee Min Ho has become one of the most popular Korean celebrities until now.

China created the series Meteor Shower in 2009. Rumor has it that this series is not an official adaptation of Hana Yori Dango. This time, the name of the F4 actor is Murong Yunhai played by Zhang Han, who was still a newcomer actor at that time.

The web drama Boys Before Friends (2013) has been considered as the American version of Hana Yori Dango. The story is similar but it is said to not be an official adaptation. The leader character of F4 in this version is named Liam Montgomery played by two actors (there is a change of cast) Joseph Almani (left) and Kevin Markovich.

In 2014, India created the series Kaisi Yeh Yariaan, which is considered as the Bollywood version of Meteor Garden (but not an official adaptation). Parth Samthaan played the role of Manik Malhotra, the leader of Fab5 (the Indian version of F4).

In 2016, Japan produced Hana Yori Dango: The Musical (official adaptation). Yuya Matsushita portrayed Tsukasa Domyoji.

In 2017, South Korea also had a musical version of Boys Over Flowers. The role of Tsukasa Domyoji was alternately played by Changsub BTOB, Ken VIXX, and musical actor Lee Sung Min.

In 2018, the original version of Meteor Garden finally aired in China. The main character was still named Daoming Si and was played by a young actor, Dylan Wang.

In 2018, Japan once again created a series/dorama Hana Yori Dango Season 2 which is set 10 years after the Jun Matsumoto version of Hana Yori Dango. There is no more F4. Instead, there is Correct5 with their leader Haruto Kaguragi played by Sho Hirano.

A musical version was again created in Japan in 2019 by Takarazuka Revue, a musical group consisting of all female members. The actress Yuzuka Rei played Tsukasa Domyoji in this musical.

Thailand announced an official adaptation version titled F4 THAILAND: BOYS OVER FLOWERS last year. The F4 leader here is named Thyme and is played by Vachirawit Chivaaree alias Bright. This series will soon air.
