Renowned girl group from SM Entertainment, aespa, has just released a pre-release single titled SUPERNOVA, which is the 1st title track for their first full album ARMAGEDDON announced to be released on May 27, 2024.

On Thursday (16/05), aespa was seen promoting the song SUPERNOVA on the music show M Countdown held at the CJ ENM Center shooting studio in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. However, unexpectedly, a small fire broke out on the corner of the stage while the members were doing pre-recording.

Reported through soompi.com, the TV station Mnet that aired this show immediately provided further information about the fire incident.

“During the pre-recording of aespa for M Countdown, a fire broke out when sparks entered the corner of the stage,” said Mnet.

Fortunately, the show's staff quickly dealt with the incident, “The fire was detected early and immediately extinguished. At the same time, the artists and audience were evacuated from the stage,” they added.

Mnet also revealed that an intensive inspection will be conducted to prevent a recurrence of such issues. This is very dangerous for the entire team and the artists as well.

They added, “The entire M Countdown set is fire-resistant, and we will carefully recheck the maintenance status to prevent the same problem from happening again.”

The comeback stage recording of aespa has been completed and will be broadcasted without any problems. No additional recordings were made after the fire, Mnet stated.

3. Winter Won't Participate in Live Broadcast

One of aespa's members, Winter, is known to be undergoing recovery after undergoing surgery to treat Pneumothorax, a collapsed lung disease. The statement was announced by SM Entertainment in April 2024. The agency will always prioritize Winter's health.

Following the incident that occurred on the M Countdown stage, SM Entertainment also released a statement that Winter will be absent from the live broadcast on May 16 due to health issues.

After the fire incident, it was announced that Winter needs rest due to her [health] condition not being good. So only Karina, Giselle, and Ningning will attend the live broadcast of M Countdown, the agency said.
