BTS's Suga Falls from Scooter While Drunk, Investigated by Police for Alleged Traffic Violation

Kapanlagi.com - BTS's Suga is once again in the spotlight. According to a report from Yonhap News cited by Allkpop, Suga is said to have been driving under the influence while riding an electric scooter.

The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul is currently investigating Suga for allegedly violating the Traffic Law. The singer, whose real name is Min Yoongi, reportedly rode his electric scooter in the Yongsan district on Wednesday (6/8/2024).

1. Police Smell Alcohol

While riding the scooter, Suga fell off. When police officers nearby came to assist him, they detected the smell of alcohol from Suga.

As a result, they moved Suga to the nearest police station to undergo a series of investigations regarding the alleged traffic violation.

Meanwhile, since September of last year, Suga has been serving in mandatory military service. He is assigned as a social service agent.

After becoming news and being discussed by fans, Big Hit, as Suga's agency, finally spoke out regarding this issue. Here is the statement from Big Hit:

“Hello, this is BigHit Music. We apologize for the incident involving Suga from BTS driving home on an electric scooter while intoxicated. On the night of August 6, Suga was wearing a helmet while riding home on the electric scooter after drinking. He had driven for about 500m before he parked and fell. Through a nearby police officer, a breathalyzer test was conducted, and according to the results, Suga's driver's license was revoked, and he was fined. There were no casualties in the incident; no property was damaged either. He was escorted home by the police.

We apologize for disappointing many people through our artist's unpleasant actions. As a public figure, he behaved in a way that caused many problems in society, and thus, he plans to accept appropriate punishment from his workplace. We will be more careful to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future."

3. Suga Apologizes

Suga himself has also made a statement and regrets his actions. Below is Suga's apology posted on Weverse.

“Hello, this is Suga. I feel very sad and regretful to have to meet you all because of this disappointing issue. I was riding an electric scooter home last night after drinking during dinner. I thought the distance was short, and I didn’t realize that you shouldn’t ride an electric scooter after drinking. Because of that, I violated traffic regulations. I parked in front of the main gate of my house, and I fell by myself at that time. There were police nearby, and based on the breathalyzer test results, my driver’s license was revoked and I paid a fine. Although no one was injured and no property was damaged in this incident, because this is something unforgivable that I must take responsibility for, I bow my head to apologize to everyone. I apologize to those who were hurt by my irresponsible and wrong actions, and I will be more careful with my actions to prevent such issues from occurring in the future.”
