Talking About MV 'INVU', Taeyeon Girls Generation Embrace Strong Greek Mythology Concept

Kapanlagi.com - Comeback Taeyeon Girls Generation with their third full album 'INVU' has received an extraordinary response from fans and K-Pop lovers. Previously, she also released a pre-single titled 'Can't Control Myself'.

At the INVU album press conference held on Monday (14/2), Taeyeon Girls Generation explained that the songs 'INVU' and 'Can't Control Myself' are connected.

"These two songs are about love. As mentioned, 'Can't Control Myself' depicts a sad portrayal of the struggle of love even after being hurt. On the other hand, 'INVU' contains heavier emotions with a story of 'freeing oneself from pain and reflecting on emotions'. It holds a more mature emotion in seeing love from a distance," said Taeyeon.

1. Hurt Because of Love

Furthermore, Taeyeon Girls Generation explained the concept for the MV 'INVU'. She admitted to portraying a main character who remains strong and calm despite being hurt because of love.

"The main character of 'INVU' is someone who is hurt by love but still gives everything
when faced with love, and I want to express this through strong visual warfare (metaphorically depicting the attitude of preparing to face pain) in the music video," Taeyeon explained.

"I thought of a brave and calm character, who is hurt but acts cool and strong," she continued.

2. Greek Mythology

For the MV 'INVU' itself, Taeyeon Girls Generation used a strong concept and visual from Greek mythology. From the background to the clothes she wears.

"This is a new image and visual that I have never tried before, like hairstyles and clothing in various mystical sets that remind viewers of Greek mythology such as ancient temples, deserts, and pools with moon reflections. I worked hard for the music video, so I hope you enjoy it!" she concluded.

3. Participating in Writing the Lyrics 'Can't Control Myself'

Because she imagined how painful someone's feelings could be because of love, Taeyeon was inspired to create a story. This story is what Taeyeon then poured into the lyrics of Can't Control Myself.

"From this concept, I imagined more images in my mind and developed a story that led me to participate in writing the lyrics," she explained.

4. Feeling the Pain of Love

Taeyeon also revealed how she felt the first time she heard the song Can't Control Myself. She couldn't lie if she also imagined someone feeling the pain of love.

"When I listened to the song Can't Control Myself for the first time, I thought about all these stories based on the emotions I felt at that time. The elements of the song, such as the source and the voice, helped me imagine the story. When I heard Can't Control Myself, I thought of someone whose heart was torn apart because of love," Taeyeon explained.

5. Experience the Pain

When working on the MV Can't Control Myself, Taeyeon also revealed how she tried to get into the character of someone who feels pain due to love wounds. The proof is, Taeyeon successfully made you fall in love through her MV, right?

"When working on the MV, it is important for me to activate my imagination in my head so that I can finally act in the MV. I actually feel pain when expressing the emotions of the main character. I use blood makeup and try to immerse myself in the character to convey every little detail of the pain, including wounds caused by sharp thorns. I put myself in the character's position and maintain focus throughout the video production," Taeyeon said.
