After succeeding in the modeling world, Jaz Rowe is now spreading her wings into the music industry by launching her debut single titled Unusual. This song was released under the Wecord Evermore label and marks Jaz's first step towards pursuing her dream of becoming a singer.
"I ventured into music to realize my dream of being a singer. The song Unusual is my first single," said Jaz Rowe when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Friday (10/1/2025). Here are the details.
The single Unusual has a very personal theme for Jaz. The song tells the story of a long-distance relationship (LDR), an experience that is not foreign to her. "I wrote this song myself, and it tells about my experience. I love telling my story through a song," Jaz said.
In the lyrics, Jaz tries to depict the feeling of longing from two perspectives, both from the male and female sides. He wants to show that in long-distance relationships (LDR), selfish feelings and confusion about a partner's feelings often arise.
"When I miss him, I ask, does he also miss us? Likewise, the other way around. This song promotes selflessness," he explained.
The process of making this song turned out to be not easy. Jaz revealed that it took him two years to write and release this song. Nevertheless, the experience became a valuable lesson for him. "Yes, there was definitely a bit of awkwardness, like a little fear, but also very exciting. But on the other hand, I have loved singing since I was little," he said.
The music video for the song Tak Biasa was also made specially. Jaz chose Bali as the shooting location because it holds a special emotional value for him. "The shooting was in Bali because it’s a special place where I refresh with my family. It’s my favorite place; I’ve always wanted to shoot a music video in Bali," said Jaz.
Jaz also mentioned Nikki Zefanya as one of the musicians who greatly inspires him. He admires Nikki's ability to bring Indonesian music to the international stage. "I really like Nikki Zefanya; she’s amazing for bringing Indonesian music to the international scene. She is one of the musicians who inspires me," Jaz expressed.
Through Tak Biasa, Jaz hopes that listeners can feel a connection with the lyrics of his song. He wants this song to be a companion for those who are in a long-distance relationship and feel not alone in facing those feelings. "I hope this song becomes a companion for couples who are in a long-distance relationship," he concluded.
