There is something different about the Indonesian Music Awards (AMI) Awards this year 2025. The Chairman of the AMI Foundation, Candra Darusman, announced that there will be two new categories added to this prestigious award event. The announcement was made during the Media Briefing for the AMI Awards 2025 in Senayan, Jakarta, on June 5, 2025.

The AMI Awards 2025 officially announces two new categories. The two categories added to the list of awards are Best Contemporary Music and Best Vocal Director. These two categories are here to complement the more than 60 categories that already existed.

The addition of these two categories in the AMI Awards 2025 is not without reason. Contemporary music is considered to have significant development but has not received adequate recognition through awards.
On the other hand, the role of the vocal director or vocal coach in the music production process is crucial, even though it has been overlooked in direct appreciation during national music award events. Therefore, this category is expected to broaden the scope of recognition and provide space for more professions in the music world.

The representative of the AMI Awards categorization team, Syaharani, who has been active for 10 years in this team, welcomed the addition of the two categories. According to her, this step will encourage musicians' freedom to explore more diverse genres. The AMI Awards 2025 has opened registration for works since May 27, 2025, and will close on July 5, 2025. Works that can be registered are those released in the period from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
Registration is done online through the official site: https://manage.ami-awards.com/label. All submitted works will go through a selection and categorization process before being evaluated by the judging panel.
