Asteriska Talks About the Fatigue of Life in Jakarta in Her Latest Single

Kapanlagi.com - Asteriska, known as the vocalist of Barasuara, has recently created a new project called Asteriska & The Fellow Stars. This project has just released a single titled Keluar Dari Jakarta as the closing of her EP. In an interview with the KapanLagi team, Asteriska shared that Jakarta is not just a place to live, but also a reflection of her journey as a musician. The city of Jakarta offers many opportunities, but on the flip side, it also drains a lot of energy.

Through the song Keluar Dari Jakarta from the EP First Light, Asteriska tries to tell another side of life in the capital. "Jakarta is a city full of ambition," Asteriska said. 1. Jakarta is Exhausting and Not for Everyone

Asteriska shared that the idea for the song Getting Out of Jakarta came from her personal experiences while living in the capital. "I have lived in Jakarta since I was a child, almost half of my life is here," she revealed in an exclusive interview with KapanLagi. Asteriska also mentioned, "But honestly, Jakarta is really tough. Every day there are struggles, traffic jams, work pressure, and a competition that feels never-ending." She explained that Jakarta indeed promises a lot, which is why many people, including musicians, want to pursue their careers there. However, the reality is not as beautiful, "Jakarta can offer many opportunities, but it also drains a lot of energy. If you're not prepared, you can get exhausted before reaching your goals," said Asteriska.

Together with her colleague, Eferem Star, Asteriska admitted that they have long wanted to leave Jakarta for a quieter city. "We've often talked about leaving Jakarta, but we haven't been able to because we still have responsibilities here," Asteriska explained. If given the chance, Asteriska would like to live in smaller, quieter cities like Salatiga and Jogja. Besides the desire to leave, this song also encourages listeners to bravely step out of things that make us uncomfortable.

2. Finding Peace Amidst the Busyness of Music

Although wanting to live a calmer life, Asteriska remains active in the music world. In fact, she is currently engaged in three projects: Barasuara, a solo project, and Asteriska & The Fellow Stars. When asked how she manages her time amidst all her busyness, Asteriska laughed and replied, "Honestly, I'm still confused too. But I believe everything will be beautiful in its own time. The universe surely has a way to arrange things." She also explained that when Barasuara is busy, the project The Fellow Stars is usually handled by Eferem Star. But whenever there is free time, Asteriska jumps in to help with promotions and production. She admits to being very flexible and able to divide her focus.

In addition to making music, Asteriska tries to find tranquility by becoming a practitioner of well-being or holistic health through access bars and sound healing. Access bars is a relaxation method to relieve stress and balance the body's energy, while sound healing is a therapy that uses sound vibrations to help one feel calmer and enhance focus. "Sometimes people say my music makes them calm, and I think that's because my intention is to channel good energy through my songs," she said.
