Collaborating with World Musicians, Once Mekel Diverts Latest Song Income Titled Human Race for Environmental Care Action

He is known to collaborate with world musicians in working on a song titled Human Race. Jeff Scott Soto, Dino Jelusic, Derek Sherinian, Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal, Billy Sheehan, and Simon Philips are a series of names involved in this project. Once Mekel, Indra Putra, and Edo Widiz are representatives of local musicians.

In a press conference held in the BSD area, Tangerang, Saturday (12/3), Once Mekel said that working on the Human Race song, which collaborated with a number of cross-country musicians, was quite challenging technically. The reason is that the making of the song, which has started since October 2021, was only completed around January.

Because of the distance, the number of revisions before the song is really completed is an obstacle according to him. But interestingly, in the Human Race song, Once Mekel included Manado language lyrics as the opening of the song.

The collaboration between Once Mekel and international musicians is a pride for the former vocalist of the band Dewa 19. However, what is even more proud is the income from this song that is dedicated to showing concern for environmental issues.

“We include the Manado language which basically means that humans must live by humanizing other humans. In Manado language, it is called si tou timou tumou tou,” said Once Mekel.

2. Proud Project

Once revealed that this project is certainly proud, because he can collaborate and have a career with great musicians internationally, but there is also a social aspect to it. Because the results will be made into charity through the ForestNation institution which has a program to prevent climate change.

In addition, for the technical part, the song Human Race is presented in the form of NFT which collaborates with a blockchain technology company. Later, every person who buys this track through NFT, the funds collected will be channeled to help the environmental issue program.

“We hope this program can become a pioneer, there are new opportunities in terms of music collaboration on an international scale including worldwide music distribution,” he concluded.
