Farrel Hilal Releases Second Single Take It Slow with RnB Pop Vibe

Kapanlagi.com - After the success of his debut single Di Selatan Jakarta, musician Farrel Hilal greets his fans again with his second song still carrying the RnB pop genre. This single titled Take It Slow was born from Farrel's own idea and depicts the feelings of someone imagining driving at night with their partner while listening to slow songs.

Take It Slow is inspired by Farrel's fondness for driving at night with his partner. The process of creating this song took about 3-4 months, from writing to finishing the recording. This song is one of 10 drafts that Farrel made since joining Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia (SMEI).

“Maybe, among those 10 songs, only two are considered suitable to be promoted as singles, including 'Take It Slow'. However, it is possible that in the future, the other eight songs will also be released, of course with some changes, whether in melody or lyrics,” explained Farrel.

1. There is a Common Thread

This man, born in Jakarta on November 27, 2000, mentioned that the single "Take It Slow" has a sound that is nearly the same as his debut song. According to Farrel, this was done to create a common thread connecting his works. "So, to give a little hint, the first and second singles are part of a journey that will culminate in my first album at Sony Music. Because of that, in all my song productions in this phase, I try to maintain a consistent sound so that the identity remains intact and can form a cohesive story when combined in the album. So, this can be said to build hype and prepare listeners for the upcoming album," he revealed.

Although there is a similarity in sound with "In South Jakarta," Farrel faced his own challenges when working on "Take It Slow" because he had to find the right melody.

"Initially, it was just a skit or a short song with a duration of about 1-2 minutes. However, I was advised to extend it into a single, so there were some sounds that needed to be changed to make it feel appropriate as a longer song. There was one thing I changed, and it was quite significant, which was to introduce brass instruments that were not there before," he explained.

2. Learning a Lot About Song Production

As a musician who has just released two singles under the SMEI label, Farrel has experienced many things he has learned, especially related to the production process.

"One of the big things I have learned is how to produce songs more neatly, whereas before it was still abstract because I was still learning. Now, I have also started producing for several singers. 'More neatly' means I have to be able to produce songs that not only suit my taste but can also be enjoyed and accepted by a wider audience. So, I have to consider not just personal preferences but also market tastes. This is something I will definitely apply to my future works," he said.

Farrel hopes that listeners of Take It Slow can enjoy the song. "Just enjoy the song. I hope this song can be enjoyed by everyone who listens, can be listened to repeatedly, and is timeless."

Farrel Hilal's second single, "Take It Slow," can be listened to on digital music platforms starting August 2, 2024.
