First Time Held in Indonesia, The Chairs to The Dinosaur's Skin Ready to Color AXEAN Festival 2024

Kapanlagi.com - Three famous bands from Taiwan, The Chairs, The Dinosaur’s Skin, and I’mdifficult will make their debut performance in Indonesia this September. They will perform at the AXEAN Festival 2024, a regional music event for Southeast Asia and East Asia held at Jimbaran Hub, Bali, from September 28 to 29, 2024.

The Chairs themselves are a trio from Taichung who won the prestigious Golden Melody Award in 2019 with their album “LOVELY SUNDAY.” Currently, they are one of the most popular bands in Taiwan and have toured various countries such as Japan, China, Australia, and Singapore last year, before starting a tour in China this year for their latest album “The Great Escape Of Our Time.”

In 2023, they also performed at the JADED event curated at SXSW in Austin, Texas, alongside other famous Asian artists like Balming Tiger, 9m88, and Tohji. They will also perform at the Reeperbahn Festival in Germany on September 20, 2024.

1. Line Up

Meanwhile, The Dinosaur’s Skin is a mysterious duo formed by the dinosaurs “Trex” and “Triceratops” from the Cretaceous period 65 million years ago. Surviving a mass extinction and traveling through a wormhole to modern Taipei, they are now creating songs to commemorate their lost friends.

This band also represents Taiwan at several showcases in the United States, including Taiwanese Waves at Central Park, New York in 2023 and SXSW in Austin this year.

And for I’m Difficult is one of the most promising bands from Taiwan. This experimental pop group from Taipei gained attention with their latest album titled “I’m difficult” last December, receiving positive reviews from both critics and fans.

Additionally, AXEAN Festival is the first music showcase festival that brings together indie musicians from across Southeast Asia and East Asia. Aiming to elevate Southeast Asian music to the world stage and introduce the cultural richness of this region across national borders, AXEAN Festival features the best indie artists from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, and South Korea.

2. Premier in Indonesia

The AXEAN Festival was first held as a virtual music showcase festival in 2020, and hosted its first physical concert in Singapore in 2022 at Haw Par Villa under the name ASEAN Music Showcase Festival. Last year, the AXEAN Festival took place at Goodman Arts Centre, Singapore.

This year marks the first time the AXEAN Festival is held in Indonesia. For this year's event, in addition to the three Taiwanese bands mentioned above, several Indonesian bands are also scheduled to perform, including Grrrl Gang, lightcraft, Milledenials, Assia Keva, and Dialog Dini Hari. Regional musicians such as Josh Makazo (SG), mindfreakkk (TH), Zee Avi & The Good Things (MY), Golden Mammoth (MY), Munimuni (PH), Low Hanging Fruits (KR), The Hertz (HK), and many more will also be present.
