Kapanlagi.com - Gledeg Band, which consists of comedians with diverse musical backgrounds, has finally chosen Mimpi Jadi Kiper as their debut single. This song, which initially came from a casual conversation, has now become Gledeg's introduction to the Indonesian music industry.
The band consists of four members: Wanda Ok (vocals), Patra Gumala (bass), Oza Rangkuti (drums), and Kicuy Aduy (guitar). Patra Gumala explained their reason for choosing this song as their first single.
"Why Mimpi Jadi Kiper? The title seems the funniest. It started as a joke, but it leaked because Wancoy talked about it on Grindboys. So, we decided to just make it the first single," said Patra Gumala to Kapanlagi.com on Monday (20/1/2025)
It turns out that the choice of this song was also triggered by the interest of many people after Wancoy talked about the song in the Grindboys content with Rico Lubis and Gofar Hilman.
"Why Mimpi Jadi Kiper? Because many people want to know and are curious about the song Mimpi Jadi Kiper that I mentioned in previous Grindboys content. The song is also super catchy, along with lyrics that we think are really good," said Wancoy.
The process of creating the song Mimpi Jadi Kiper was quite spontaneous. Wancoy admitted that the song was written inspired by experiences and watching football.
"Actually, about the making of the song Mimpi Jadi Kiper, it was Kicuy who initially said, 'What should our song be?' Mimpi Jadi Kiper, man. So at that moment in the studio, I wrote the lyrics. It's just based on the habits of goalkeepers that I've watched," revealed Wancoy.
When asked about the music genre of Gledeg, Patra explained that they are not bound to any particular genre.
"If asked whether it's punk or not, we actually just want to play what we want to play. In the upcoming EP, there’s also one reggae song," Patra Gumala explained.
"So if someone wants to interpret this as punk, then it's punk; if hardcore, then it's hardcore. We don’t really know what the music genre is, the important thing is that it’s a genre we like and can dance to," Wancoy concluded.
