Iga Barasuara Participates in Breaking MURI Record with Lensa Community

Not only Iga Barasuara, vocalist Andy /rif also took part in breaking this MURI record. This MURI record-breaking event is titled The Cyclist Portrait "Ride to 500", which was initiated by Lensa Community in collaboration with professional photographer Panji Indra.

As the name "Ride to 500" suggests, this photography project initially targeted 500 cyclists. However, due to high enthusiasm, the number of participants jumped to 837 cyclists. "Ride to 500" was held at three favorite gathering spots for cycling enthusiasts in Jakarta and Bintaro areas. The locations started from the Parking Lot of Burger King Emerald Bintaro Jaya, Senayan Park (Spark), to Jakarta International Velodrome. This activity was held on Sunday, November 15, 2020, from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM.

1. Aim to Provide Inspiration

Christian Setiawan, as a representative of Lensa Community, said that the photography project "Ride to 500" aims to provide inspiration for visualgraphy enthusiasts to continue creating, especially in difficult times. The vision of Lensa Community has received a very positive response with a high number of cyclists who want to participate, and finally succeeded in breaking the MURI record.

"This MURI record achievement is an appreciation that we are grateful for. We also thank the cyclists who supported and participated, with great enthusiasm. We see Ride to 500 as a collaborative project. Because photography is very vast and continues to follow the evolving trends, including the current trend of photographing cyclists. We hope that through this record-breaking achievement, the world of photography and lens-based visuals will have a wider impact," explained Christian when met at the event location in Bintaro, South Tangerang.

The selection of the three locations for "Ride to 500" is the favorite spot for cyclists and is commonly used as a meeting point. These three locations also represent the cyclists around the capital city to come and participate, concluding at the Jakarta International Velodrome, which is a landmark for cycling in Indonesia. To be immortalized in the stadium with a pride bicycle is also a rare opportunity. 'So, through Ride to 500, it becomes a pride for participants who are allowed to experience taking photos there,' added Christian.

2. Starting from a Photographer Movement on Instagram

The collaboration between Lensa Community and Panji Indra started from a movement by the photographer on Instagram called The Cyclist Portrait. In this movement, Panji Indra captured cyclists in Jakarta in the form of portrait photography. The photographed cyclists come from various backgrounds, professions, types of bicycles, with different stories. One characteristic of The Cyclist Portrait's work is always using an outdoor photography setup as the background for taking photos.

Panji Indra said that he conceived The Cyclist Portrait as an inspirational movement while maintaining productivity in this pandemic situation. The Cyclist Portrait is expected to be an entertaining work of art for photography enthusiasts and cycling enthusiasts. Through collaboration with Lensa Community, The Cyclist Portrait finally managed to mark this movement with a phenomenal MURI record achievement.

"The challenge of breaking the MURI record can be achieved because the cycling community circle is quite large and solid. The same goes for non-community cyclists who have a high level of enthusiasm. It is a pride that The Cyclist Portrait, together with Lensa Community, finally succeeded in achieving the MURI record. I hope that in the future, the awareness of people who love cycling can be greater and everyone has the same spirit," said Panji.

3. Photo Competition Title

In addition to breaking the MURI record, at the same time, 'Ride to 500' also held a Photo Competition with a total prize of Rp 5 million for five winners from the participants. In addition, there is also a Best Competition with a prize of Rp 3 million for the cycling community with the most members participating in this event. The 'Ride to 500' event was closed after the photography of the 837th participant, followed by the presentation of the MURI record 'Most Cyclists in One Day' to Panji Indra and Lensa Community.

To anticipate crowds during the 'Ride to 500' in three locations, the organizers implemented very strict health protocols for all participants. All participants are required to wear masks, undergo body temperature checks before entering the location, maintain a safe distance between participants, and provide hand sanitizers and handwashing facilities around the area.
