Island Vibes Malang 2024 'Revives' Kanjuruhan Stadium Malang and the Late Steven 'Tepeng'

Kapanlagi.com - Still fresh in our memories, the dark tragedy at Kanjuruhan Stadium Malang on October 1, 2022. At that time, the football match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya resulted in 135 casualties. Since then, Kanjuruhan Stadium has never been used again.

However, on Wednesday night (24/7), Kanjuruhan Stadium seemed to 'come alive' again. Hundreds of people were seen crowding the venue. Even food and merchandise booths were lined up along the parking area.

There was a reason for this; that night, there was a concert for the Island Vibes album tour titled 'Island Vibes Reggae Party'. Malang became the 7th city in this tour series.

Throughout the night, Kanjuruhan Stadium Malang lit up and roared as the event took place. What were the details? Check it out below..

1. Event Flow

The Island Vibes Reggae Party started in the afternoon. The event was opened by Glorious Friend, a reggae band from Malang that performed several of its hit singles from the album TITIK TERANG.

After Glorious Friend's performance, there was a break in the event as it coincided with the maghrib prayer time. The audience could spend their time praying or buying food and drinks available at the venue.

At around 7:00 PM WIB, the event resumed. This time, a lineup of popular names in the reggae world took turns performing, such as S2B Family, Richard D Gilis, Alvons Freedom, Lawa Amq, Kamga, Conrad Good Vibration, Radhit Echoman, and Coonuttreez (CTTZ). The audience was made to sway non-stop along with the cool weather of Malang at night.

Now, during CTTZ's performance, there was an unexpected surprise on stage!

2. The Late Steven Nugraha Kaligis 'Lives' Again

In the midst of the CTTZ performance, the audience was startled by the presence of the late Steven 'Tepeng' Nugraha Kaligis. He was brought back through AI technology on a screen in the form of a hologram.

Despite being AI, the figure of Steven presented was so similar to the original! Not only that, he also appeared to greet the audience present and invited them to sing along. His voice was exactly like the original. I swear!

Not long after, Steven was also accompanied by a beautiful AI figure who went viral on TikTok; Arbie Seo. The two AI figures duetted so brilliantly on stage, momentarily making the audience forget that they were merely fictional characters.

3. Closed with Tipe-X Performance

After dancing to reggae, at exactly 10:00 PM WIB, the audience was presented with the last performer who had been eagerly awaited, Tipe-X. This time, the audience was invited to dance SKA until they were completely exhausted.

A series of hit singles were performed by Tipe-X, starting from You Are Not Alone, Flirty, Black Rose, Goodbye, Heartache to Boyband. Throughout Trisno CS's performance, the audience kept jumping, shouting, and dancing together, temporarily releasing all their burdens.

Overall, the Island Vibes Reggae Party concert was truly amazing. Many special moments were presented within it. The audience went home with satisfied hearts, even though the concert just ended close to midnight and the city of Malang was at its coldest.
