Vava Imanez, Daughter of Indonesian Reggae Legend, Excites Island Vibes Tour in Yogyakarta

Kapanlagi.com - The late Imanez's daughter, Vava Imanez Saad, successfully captivated the audience at the 2024 Island Vibes Reggae Party Tour at Kridosono Stadium, Yogyakarta, on Wednesday evening (17/7/2024) WIB.

The woman named Vagna Diandra Putri was invited to the stage when Coconut Treez (CTTZ) was about to perform their last 2 songs in their appearance in the fifth city of the Island Vibes Reggae Party.

Before calling Vava, CTTZ's keyboardist, Iwanouz, briefly recounted that his band had once sung Imanez's song. Because the Island Vibes Reggae Party was in the city of Gudeg, it felt incomplete if CTTZ did not bring Vava Imanez to the stage.

"Yes, the daughter of the late Imanez, Vava, is here to perform with us," said Iwanouz from behind his keyboard set on the stage.

Not long after, Vava was on stage. His presence received a very warm reception from the audience.

CTTZ together with Vava and Alvons Freedom --the late Steven Nugraha Kaligis' brother-- sang the legendary song by Imanez titled Anak Pantai.

"Wake up in the morning, warm sunlight in my heart. As Bob Marley sings a love song, oh yeah. I haven't showered and brushed my teeth, but I'm already in the water. With a cup of coffee, I gaze at the open sea."

Those are a few lines from the lyrics of Anak Pantai played by CTTZ with Vava and Alvons.

2. Received Pressure

Next, it was Vava's turn to sing a song by Steven & Coconut Treez titled Lagu Santai. This song became the closing performance of CTTZ and others in Yogyakarta.

As known, the late Imanez was one of the pioneers of reggae music in the country. Born Abdul Firmansyah Jusuf Saad on June 22, 1968, Imanez is known for his song Anak Pantai. He took his last breath at Dharmais Cancer Hospital in Jakarta on June 22, 2004.

After performing with CTTZ, Vava admitted that it was very difficult for her to bear the burden of being Imanez's daughter. "It's really tough, not just once or twice, there will always be comparisons between me and my dad," she said when met backstage.

"And I admit that my dad was a really good songwriter, that's what I'm trying to bring until now," she concluded.

Meanwhile, Yogyakarta is the fifth city visited by the Island Vibes Reggae Party 2024 Tour. Starting from Tangerang on July 3, 2024, this reggae party tour continues to 9 other destinations, namely Jakarta (5/7), Bandung (10/7), Purwokerto (13/7), Yogyakarta (17/7), Semarang (20/7), Malang (24/7), Banyuwangi (27/7), Bali (31/7), and Lombok (3/8).

Meanwhile, Island Vibes Reggae Party is a series of tours promoting the Island Vibes album by Coconut Treez, which has transformed into CTTZ. During the production of Island Vibes, CTTZ was also supported by several musicians from Lombok, such as Richard D' Gilis, S2B Family, Conrad, Lawa, and the late Steven Nugraha Kaligis' younger brother, Alvons Freedom.

In addition, there is also Eki Puradiredja as the producer, and singer Kamga Mo who collaborated on the single Takkan Abis.
