Kokom Band Searching for Identity Through Single 'Mau Jadi Apa'

Kapanlagi.com - Under the auspices of Rumah Lucu Management together with Abdel Achrian, Temon Templar, and Cak Lontong, Kokom music group presents their latest single titled Mau Jadi Apa. This song was written by Nunung CS's guitarist, named Nanang. The song Mau Jadi Apa tells the story of someone who is searching for their identity.

"Actually, this song is a gift from Nunung CS's guitarist, named Nanang 'you can use my song however you want, it's up to you to change it as you like'," said Boy, Kokom's vocalist, on Sunday (3/7/2022).

"So, this song tells the story of someone who is searching for their identity. Their heart is confused because what they want seems to be incompatible with their abilities," added Boy.

From Nanang's gift, the band consisting of Boy (vocals), Dion (vocals), Winkgo (vocals), Ajay (guitar), Ciby (bass), and Komar (drums) agreed to change the song "Mau Jadi Apa". What is clear is that the song is packaged as attractively as possible by Kokom.

"Kokom itself has been committed from the beginning to produce songs that contain comedic elements in their lyrics. That's why this single represents us in giving joy to those who listen to this song," said Boy.

Although it may sound catchy, Kokom still gives meaning behind the song Mau Jadi Apa (What Do You Want to Be). Through the song Mau Jadi Apa, Kokom hopes that their debut can be accepted by the wider community.

"However, there is a moral message that we want to convey that we should not give up in life, remain optimistic and always strive to achieve our dreams, don't be stressed out," he said.

"Hopefully, our first single which is in the alternative pop genre ala Kokom can be an inspiration for Indonesian music lovers. It can be accepted by listeners in Indonesian society and even the world," Boy concluded.
