Kapanlagi.com - Singer and songwriter from Yogyakarta, Luise Najib, continues to work despite the pandemic. She is reported to have collaborated with an Indonesian producer who has been living in the Netherlands for almost 20 years, Juno Rey. This Rotterdam native has also collaborated with a singer from the United States.

"Initially introduced, and coincidentally wanted to create a special collaboration. Previously, I had many collaborations with musicians from the US, and now I want to collaborate with someone from Indonesia. And it turns out I'm also a fan of Luise's songs," said Juno Rey.

In this collaboration, both of them worked remotely between Indonesia and the Netherlands. Luise Najib and Juno Rey did everything virtually, from the workshop stage, recording, mixing, and mastering. Furthermore, Luise and Juno have never met in person before.

"Initially, I was informed that there was an Indonesian producer living in the Netherlands who wanted to collaborate but it had to be done remotely. I can imagine that it won't be as difficult, but it's a bit challenging because I can work on it in the car and anywhere through video calls," said Luise Najib.

1. New Step

It is known that Luise Najib last released her song Snake in Her Hair almost a year ago. And the song New Step is the result of this collaboration and also Juno Rey's first year of releasing a song, especially this time she is releasing something different from her previous singles. Juno Rey has been involved in the electronic music industry in the Netherlands for more than a decade, and now she can't wait to release her first song in Indonesian language.

"I want this song to be an encouragement for those who listen to it, I feel it now by taking a New Step. It takes a lot of patience but you have to stay motivated and not give up," said Juno Rey.

Both Luise and Juno Rey admit that this long-distance collaboration is not too difficult. Simply by sharing references and beats through media platforms and also regularly doing voice calls, they can complete a satisfying song. Making a song in Indonesian language, the theme raised in this song is not about love but something related to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation.

"Finally, we decided to make an Indonesian song. Initially, I wanted it to be about love, but I felt it was not relevant, no one is going in that direction. I want a song that motivates, like leaving the old self behind and becoming new, so that we can progress from the past," said Luise Najib.
