Message of Diversity, Maharaja 48 Releases 'Kita Indonesia'

Kapanlagi.com - Several musicians have released songs with nationalist and diversity themes on the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's independence. One of them is the band from Depok, Maharaja 48, who released a single titled Kita Indonesia.

As the title suggests, this song is expected to remind the public about Indonesia, which consists of many social backgrounds. In terms of music, they embrace slow rock.

"As musicians, this is how we can present it through the song Kita Indonesia. We believe that music can unite feelings and cultivate love for the country of Indonesia," said Amar Ma'ruf (vocals & guitar), Ale Funky (lead guitar), Irfan (bass), and Fajar (drums) on Sunday (16/8) at Sanggar Humaniora, Depok.

In addition to nationalism themes, Amar also revealed that this song is also expected to encourage the public in the midst of the pandemic. In addition, he and his friends also want to revive the glory of Indonesian rock music.

Besides Kita Indonesia, Maharaja 48 has also released Mati Dipeluknya, Tak Mencari Mati, Bhinneka Dalam Nada, and Durjana Dunia. "Music must be able to show the identity (character) of Indonesia. The culture of a nation is an important factor in recognizing one's identity," Amar continued.

All the songs that have been released are creations of Amar who also serves as an Executive Producer under an indie label. He also has his own views on indie music.

"The indie movement may be more flexible, both in terms of creative genre and packaging. But what is clear is that music must be able to become a creative endeavor. It is part of the industry that is the backbone of the economy," he continued.

"Not pretending too far. But what we do hopefully can become a momentum to build openness and inclusive culture. There is a willingness among us to shed our exclusivity and then strengthen unity," concluded Heru, Creative Supervisor.
