'Modal Percoyo', Ndarboy Genk's New Single that Tells His Experience as a Motorcycle Taxi Driver

Kapanlagi.com - Ndarboy Genk, a musician who won the Best Regional Language Dangdut Singer at the AMI (Indonesian Music Awards) 2022, has released a new single titled Modal Percoyo (Believe in Modal). This song is inspired by the experience of Ndarboy Genk's vocalist, Helarius Daru Indrajaya, when he was a motorcycle taxi driver or ojol in 2018.

In the song, Daru tells the story of his experience and the experiences of his fellow ojol drivers, who tirelessly face life's challenges every day on the streets, often sacrificing their own interests to support their families.

Behind the perseverance and strength of the ojol drivers, Daru sees one characteristic that serves as their belief, which is to do anything with conviction, with trust.

"The struggle when I became a Grab Partner was a turning point in my life. At that time, it felt like life was very difficult, there was no other choice but to fight, as long as there is belief, effort, and prayer," said Daru.

"When I was a guest on the Grab Partner Day event some time ago and heard the term 'belief', I immediately remembered the struggle in the past. From there, I created the song 'Modal Percoyo', which I dedicated specifically to my fellow ojol drivers throughout Indonesia," he added.

2. Giving Appreciation

Mayang Schreiber, Chief Communications Officer, Grab Indonesia, said, "We are very happy to collaborate with Ndarboy Genk in releasing the song 'Modal Percoyo', especially since the song is in line with the spirit of belief that we uphold for the Indonesian people. The single 'Modal Percoyo' is produced by Mabes Balker, a record label owned by Ndarboy Genk and based in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. In his latest work, Ndarboy Genk continues to maintain the dangdut genre with Javanese language and a touch of ambyar style, expressed through melancholic lyrics that still invite dancing.
