Revealed! Ariel NOAH Almost Became the Vocalist of Yovie & Nuno

The story begins when Ariel was still struggling with Peterpan, a band that later became one of the biggest music groups in Indonesia. At that time, they were building their footing in the local music industry.

On stage, Ariel reminisces about how the offer came after his performance at a music festival in Bandung. He admitted he was hesitant because he didn't expect to receive such a significant opportunity at that time."I think this is the first time I'm telling this here. Once, we (Peterpan) played at the Dago Festival in 2001. The day after that, someone called. They asked, 'Does the vocalist of Peterpan want to audition to be the vocalist for Yovie & Nuno?' in 2001," said Ariel NOAH.

This confession immediately sparked reactions from the audience. Many imagined what would have happened if Ariel had accepted that offer and joined the music group formed by Yovie Widianto. Because, the career paths of Peterpan and Yovie & Nuno then developed into two different success stories.

Ariel revealed that he had questioned the truth of the offer. However, at the same time, Peterpan already had song material being prepared, so he chose to remain focused on the band that made his name."At that time, I was like, is this for real or am I being lied to? But at that time, Peterpan already had demos of three songs, it seemed impossible," Ariel continued.

Hearing that story, Yovie Widianto responded. The musician, who is now known as one of the most influential songwriters in Indonesia, admitted that he had indeed been paying attention to Ariel's vocal quality for a long time. According to him, Ariel's voice has a strong character and is easily recognizable.

Yovie then reminisced about one of the songs that Ariel once performed. He assessed that the work had very high quality and was the reason why Ariel was once on the radar for Yovie & Nuno's search for a vocalist at that time."At that time, we performed the song Janji di Atas Ingkar, it was really good," said Yovie Widianto.

As a conclusion to the special moment, Yovie speculated about the color of Yovie & Nuno's music if Ariel had truly joined as a vocalist. After that, both of them surprised the audience by collaborating to perform the song Sempat Memiliki. That performance became one of the main highlights of the concert celebrating 25 years of Yovie & Nuno's journey and successfully revived nostalgia for the fans who filled Istora Senayan.
