Rich Brian Calls Project Pop Music Group an Inspiration for His Music

Kapanlagi.com - Rich Brian is one of the successful Indonesian singers who has a career abroad. His name is very popular in the international music industry, especially among rap music lovers. Not only does he have singing ability, the Jakarta-born musician is also known as a record producer and songwriter who has a career in the United States.

Being successful abroad doesn't mean Rich Brian doesn't have local musicians who are admired. Although it's difficult to mention one influential name in his music career, the 23-year-old singer revealed that there is one musician he often listened to when he was a child.

"If asked how growing up in Indonesia influenced my music, I often get confused. Because, when I think about it, what elements of Indonesia did I incorporate into my music? One of the musicians I often listened to as a child is Project Pop. So, unconsciously, they inspired my music," said Rich Brian when met at Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/9/2023).

1. Indonesian Music Industry

The singer who rose to fame with the song "Dat $tick" has never specifically introduced Indonesia through music. However, he believes that Indonesian culture makes him stand out in the Indonesian music industry.

"Unconsciously, there are definitely many Indonesian music that influences me, Indonesian films as well, their advertisements, the people. Basically, everything from Indonesia still influences my music, even until now," he said.

2. GUESS Original x 88rising

It is worth noting that Rich Brian and rapper Warren Hue, who are also from Indonesia, along with their label 88rising, are currently collaborating with the renowned fashion brand, GUESS. GUESS Original x 88rising is launched to present a series of clothing suitable for young people. There are 13 collections from this collaboration named GUE88.

The clothing in the GUE88 collection combines campus fashion style with a blend of Western and Eastern culture. Various collections are presented, from tennis skirts, jackets, and polo shirts, which are sporty and classic.

"We have built a good partnership with 88rising. They are part of the GUESS family, and we are proud to continue collaborating and supporting the movements of 88rising," said Nicolai Marciano, Chief of New Business Development at GUESS.
