The press conference held on Friday, (16/8/2024) at Hotel Santika, Banyuwangi was attended by several speakers. Among them were the Head of Regional Funding & Retail Transaction Banking BRI, Wahyuningtyas Kurniati, VP Sales & Business Operation Jiwa Jawa, Chandra Hadi Siswoyo, and Corporate Marcomm Manager Santika Indonesia Hotels & Resorts, Prita Gero.

Unlike before, Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 is held on August 17, 2024. Bagas Indyatmono revealed a special reason related to the momentum of Indonesia's independence and the Jazz Gunung Ijen event.
"Why we chose August 17 is because there is a common thread from the spirit of jazz music that is full of struggle. This is the tenth time Jazz Gunung Ijen has been held. It was temporarily halted due to the pandemic and still mourning the loss of Djaduk Ferianto, an artist from Yogyakarta who 'stitched' local culture with jazz music." said Bagas Indyatmono, President Director of PT Jazz Gunung Indonesia (JGI) at a press conference.
Meanwhile, the tagline raised in this year's Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 event is 'The Freedom of Jazz, The Freedom of Indonesia.' Apparently, this title also carries a special message related to the spirit of nationalism.
"One spirit, to be honest, organizing this also requires struggle. We hope that with the presence of Jazz Gunung Indonesia, in Ijen, this one spirit can introduce what jazz music is like." He stated.

Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 is known to have one thing that is very special compared to the Jazz Gunung Series events one and two. As information, it is previously known that the organization of the Jazz Gunung Series 2024 is divided into several events.
Among them are Jazz Gunung Slamet, Jazz Gunung Bromo, Jazz Gunung Ijen, and Jazz Gunung Burangrang. Meanwhile, the third event in the Jazz Gunung 2024 series has a special reason, which is to reintroduce pure or original jazz music.
"So we decided to return to the roots of presenting jazz music," said Bagas Indyatmono, CEO of PT Jazz Gunung Indonesia (JGI) during the press conference.

The Mount Ijen Jazz 2024 will feature several performers to enliven the Jazz Gunung Series event. Among these performers are Indra Lesmana Trio, Sri Hanuraga, Elfa Zulham, Kevin Yosua, Aditya Ong Quartet, and Yuri Mahatma’s Straight & Stretch feat Dian Pratiwi.
Meanwhile, Indra Lesmana, known as a maestro of Indonesian Jazz music, expressed his reasons for performing at the Mount Ijen Jazz 2024. Moreover, this moment is not the first for Indra Lesmana, as he previously performed at the Bromo Jazz in 2018.
"It turns out it was 6-7 years ago. Happy to be in Banyuwangi, I can’t wait to perform tomorrow. I think this is something that must be supported. A festival like this needs an audience for music lovers, especially Jazz in Banyuwangi. It not only enhances musicians but also educates the audience." said Indra Lesmana at a press conference on Friday, (16/8/2024).

On the same occasion, Indra Lesmana revealed his reason for choosing to perform at Jazz Gunung Ijen in Banyuwangi. For him, Banyuwangi is a strategic area to introduce Jazz music through festivals to a wider audience.
"Especially East Java has extraordinary potential to develop an art activity. For Jazz music, there is a fashion week in Jember. I see it as a positive thing to witness the development of modern art in East Java." said Indra Lesmana.
Indra Lesmana, known as a Jazz music musician, stated that he will be showcasing Jazz Swing music. This Jazz music was previously featured in the 7th era album.
"Specifically for tomorrow, I actually want to present more Jazz swing. I have showcased it during the big band album era of the 7th. Swing music is quite communicative for those who are just starting to enjoy Jazz music." He explained.

The Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 event is also supported by BRImo, which sent its representatives to attend a recent press conference. One of the reasons for their involvement as a supporter of this event is the shared values and goals.

In addition, as a financial service provider, we are amazed to see how the previous Jazz Gunung Bromo event has revitalized MSMEs around Bromo." said Wahyuningtyas Kurniati, Head of Regional Funding & Retail Transaction Banking at BRI.
Similarly, the VP of Sales & Business Operation at Jiwa Jawa, Chandra Hadi Siswoyo, expressed pride in being the host. For your information, the Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 will be held at Taman Gandrung, Terakota, Banyuwangi.

The Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 event marks the 10th time it has been held in Banyuwangi. Previously, Jazz Gunung Ijen was also known as Ijen Summer Jazz. This is the philosophy of the Jazz Gunung Ijen 2024 event, coinciding with the 79th anniversary of Indonesia's independence.
