The news about Coldplay's plans to stop making music has been circulating since 2021. In an interview with BBC Radio 2, Chris Martin revealed that the band would stop releasing new songs in 2025.

"I can tell you that our last complete album will be released in 2025, and after that, it seems we will only focus on touring," Martin said on December 23, 2021, on BBC Radio 2.

He also added, "As far as I remember, we still have three more albums to go, and the last one will be released right at the end of 2025."

Initially considered a joke, Chris Martin once again confirmed the issue regarding the end of Coldplay's career in 2024. In an interview with Zane Lowe for the Apple Music 1 program aired on Monday (1/10/2024), Martin explained that the statement was related to the promotion of the album Moon Music.

"We will only release 12 full albums, and this is really serious. I swear," said Chris Martin. He added that there is a deep reason behind this decision, which has an interesting analogy.

“Look, there are only seven Harry Potter books and twelve and a half albums from The Beatles, with a similar number for Bob Marley and other legends. By setting such a limit, we can maintain a very high quality, making it almost impossible for a song to slip through if it doesn't meet good standards. We strive to keep improving ourselves," Chris Martin explained.
