Traveling the World with Regional Songs, Ten 2 Five is Ready for Special Collaboration with Artists

Kapanlagi.com - Ten 2 Five, currently consisting of Imel, Arief, Ardi, Thomas, and Vito, still want to continue working as long as creativity is still there and physical condition allows. Despite being on hiatus for 6 years, the band, popular with the song I Will Fly, admits that they will not give up even if they fail and will continue to strive to create better works.

When met in Pondok Labu area, South Jakarta, on Friday, February 28, 2020, the members of Ten 2 Five talked about the contribution of regional albums in their career journey. They stated that Ten 2 Five could travel the world during their hiatus thanks to regional albums.

"We have a trilogy of regional albums. There's Cinta Indonesia, Zamrud Khatulistiwa, and I Love Indonesia. The first one released was I Love Indonesia. During the 6-year hiatus, we performed more regional songs in our gigs. There was a moment when we performed only regional songs, even at the concert in GIK (Galeri Indonesia Kaya). We also went abroad because of the regional albums, we went to Switzerland, Qatar. It was the regional albums that took us everywhere. It's enjoyable, but it doesn't mean we forget to create our own works," said Imel.

1. Filling the Void in the Music Industry

The success of the regional album Ten 2 Five has made them want to fill the void in the Indonesian music scene. The band feels challenged to incorporate traditional elements into their pop music genre. Therefore, Ten 2 Five has plans to collaborate with traditional artists. They are currently preparing this project carefully.

"Actually, we have plans to collaborate with an angklung artist from Bandung. We are still considering what is appropriate. The idea is already there, the challenge is to incorporate traditional music into pop," said Thomas.

2. Following the Development of Time

In this digital era, promoting albums is easier for musicians to make their work known to the public. In order to keep up with the times, Ten 2 Five is trying to adapt and continue promoting their band through social media.

"It's undeniable that everything is now digital, and that's a challenge for Ten 2 Five. Now, if we are digitally savvy, it's easier to promote our album. We try not to be left behind, at least our social media is active," concluded Vito.
