WAMI Records Music Royalty Collection of Rp 161 Billion in 2024, Significant Contribution from the Digital Sector

Kapanlagi.com - Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI), a Collective Management Organization (CMO), announced a significant achievement in collecting music royalties throughout the year 2024. The total royalties successfully collected by WAMI reached Rp 161,253,244,044. This figure includes royalties from various sectors, ranging from digital to live music performances (live events).

"In 2024, thank God, WAMI can manage up to approximately Rp 161 billion. This is not a small amount, you know," said WAMI's President Director, Adi Adrian, at the WAMI office in South Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/12/2024).

Although this achievement is considerable, the KLa Project personnel revealed that this figure has not yet reached its maximum potential. He mentioned that there are still several parties that have not fulfilled their obligations in paying royalties, so the amount collected does not fully reflect WAMI's potential.

"Is this ideal? Not yet. But Rp 161 billion is something quite large. We are proud to announce that we have successfully managed Rp 161 billion," he said.

He also explained that one of the sectors that provides a significant contribution is royalties from performing rights, namely royalties that come from music performances. For this sector, WAMI managed to collect around Rp 12 billion in 2024.

"Concerts around Rp 12 billion, yes. Quite a lot, Rp 12 billion. The digital sector is indeed large, about a hundred billion," he said.

In addition, Adi also revealed that WAMI has successfully distributed royalties to songwriters and music publishers with a total of around Rp 118 billion. This distribution process is carried out carefully to ensure that royalties are received by the entitled parties.

"Everyone is fighting for the rights of composers, even though it’s not as easy as flipping a hand," he said.

"But we believe that in the coming years, the management and public awareness of Copyright will increase, and composers can become more prosperous," he concluded.

Not only concerning the collection and distribution of royalties, WAMI also recorded significant growth in the number of members. In 2024, as many as 724 new members joined WAMI, bringing the total membership of WAMI to 5,666 people, consisting of composers, publishers, and music catalog managers with a total of 241,951 musical works in the WAMI system.
