This is a portrait of Balongan Refinery before the massive fire. It is known that this refinery was established in 1994.
This refinery processes crude oil from Duri and Minas, which comes from Riau Province. Until now, Balongan Refinery is capable of producing Premium, Pertamax, Pertamax Plus, Solar, Pertamina DEX, Kerosene, LPG, and Propylene.
The result of the fuel production is supplied to several main areas such as DKI Jakarta, Banten, parts of West Java, and its surroundings.
And this is a picture of the refinery when it was heavily on fire. It is known that the refinery exploded around 00:45 midnight.
The cause of the refinery explosion is still under investigation, although there is suspicion that the refinery exploded after being struck by lightning. This is because during the incident, there was a thunderstorm.
The authorities are still trying to extinguish the remaining fire from this oil refinery, and evacuate the residents around to a safer place.
