"In response to the news regarding the alleged violation of the exclusive licensing rights of the English Premier League by Cafe Alero in Klaten, I, Ebenezer Ginting from Ginting Associates Law Office, as the legal counsel for Vidio and Indonesia Entertainment Group (IEG), hereby provide clarification," opened Ebenezer in his Right of Reply received by KapanLagi.com.
Ebenezer's right of reply is divided into several points, namely:
1. I, Ebenezer Ginting, through Ginting Associates Law Office, act as the official legal representative of Vidio and IEG in this matter.
2. From the results of the investigation and the evidence obtained, there is evidence indicating that Cafe Alero has broadcast English Premier League matches without having an official license for public commercial viewing.
3. It is not true that the news states they were sued for broadcasting the English Premier League during a family halal bihalal event at their home.
4. Before proceeding to the criminal realm, legal efforts have been made in stages, starting with a warning letter followed by a family meeting with the Cafe Alero party.
5. The Cafe Alero party, represented by Mr. Dewanta Ary Wardhana, attended the family resolution process.
6. Since this family process did not result in an agreement, it was followed up with an official complaint report to the police.
7. During the mediation process by the police, the representative present for Cafe Alero was Mrs. Endang, not Mr. Dewanta Ary Wardhana.
8. We, along with our clients, Vidio and IEG, will always follow and respect the legal processes in accordance with existing regulations.
According to Ebenezer, his party has never taken action outside the legal framework. Legal steps will only be taken when the violator broadcasts exclusive content owned by Vidio commercially without official permission.
"We also want to emphasize that enforcement against broadcasting rights violations is always carried out selectively and measured. Family events, social activities, and non-commercial activities are never subject to sanctions. The focus of enforcement is on businesses that use exclusive content commercially without official permission. Thus, we present this right of reply so that reporting related to this matter can reflect more complete and balanced information," concluded Ebenezer.
