Covid-19 Cases Still Worrisome, Entry of Foreign Nationals to Indonesia Becomes More Restricted

Kapanlagi.com - Since the emergence of the Delta variant in Indonesia, the transmission of Covid-19 is still concerning. Various efforts are being made by the government, including tightening the arrival gate for international travelers (foreign nationals).

Through the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, recently issued Circular Letter (SE) Number 8 of 2021 concerning International Travel Health Protocols During the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Pandemic.

This SE is issued following the increase in the spread of Covid-19, thus requiring special provisions for international travelers entering Indonesia to protect Indonesian citizens (WNI) from imported cases.

Foreign Nationals Must Show Vaccination Card

In the circular letter that will take effect starting tomorrow, one of the provisions is that all foreign nationals entering Indonesia must show their vaccination card (fully vaccinated) and negative PCR test results for Covid-19 upon arrival at international arrival gates.

Chairman of Perdospi (Indonesian Association of Aviation Specialist Doctors) Colonel (Kes) DR.dr.Wawan Mulyawan, SpBS, SpKP, AAK supports this regulation. "This is a good regulation. Anyone (entering Indonesia) must show their vaccination card," he said on Monday (5/7).

Dr. Wawan also agrees that for Indonesian citizens who have just arrived from abroad and have not yet been vaccinated, they will be vaccinated upon arrival in Indonesia after proving negative for Covid-19 following quarantine upon entry to Indonesia.

When asked if this regulation should still be implemented even though the Emergency PPKM has ended, Dr. Wawan believes that it is very situational.

"The implementation of such regulations can change according to the development of Covid-19 cases in certain periods," he said.
