Graduates of Poltekpar Have Opportunities to Create Jobs, Not Just Absorbed by the Industry!

Even the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, said that 100% of graduates from the Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar) under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy are absorbed into the domestic tourism industry, and many of them can create job opportunities for the community!

This was revealed by Minister Sandiaga Uno during the Weekly Press Briefing at Gedung Sapta Pesona, Jakarta, on Monday (04/04/2022). He explained that every year, 6 Poltekpar graduate 3,500 students. What's even cooler is that 30% of the students start their own businesses and create job opportunities, while 70% of the graduates are absorbed as workers in the tourism industry.

“Based on our data, around 70 percent are absorbed immediately, and 30 percent start their own businesses. I am proud and impressed. This is also a source of pride for us that 30 percent of Poltekpar graduates are not looking for jobs but creating job opportunities,” said Sandiaga.

Minister Sandiaga also said that 30% of Poltekpar graduates in Bandung, Medan, Palembang, Lombok, Makassar, and Bali start businesses in the hotel, restaurant, and cafe industries.

“They start businesses in the hotel, restaurant, and cafe industries. This is something that we will continue to improve. We hope that Poltekpar graduates will become centers of excellence in human resources,” he said.

Therefore, Sandiaga emphasized that in the future, Poltekpar will continue to improve innovation in preparing and implementing curricula and opening job opportunities.

“I am very serious about the development of human resources in tourism and the creative economy.”

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Human Resources Development Center, Faisal, added that the 6 Poltekpar institutions have opened registration for the 2022/2023 academic year, with new student admissions through two selection paths, namely the Joint Admission Selection (SBM) and Independent Admission Selection (SMM).

"From the data we have gathered, there are already 7,513 interested applicants, but only 1,444 have registered. For complete and up-to-date information on the SBMTNP T.A. 2022/2023, prospective students can directly access the website https://sbmptnp.kemenparekraf.go.id," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf Communication Bureau, I Gusti Ayu Dewi Hendriyani, who is also a graduate of Poltekpar Bali, added that there are several study programs that are popular among prospective students who want to study at Poltekpar.

"The first is the Diploma 3 Culinary Management program. This program is in high demand for those who want to start a culinary business. Second, the Diploma 4 Hotel Administration program, which is popular among those who want to delve into hospitality in the hotel industry. Third, the Diploma 4 Tourism program, which is in demand for developing tourism destinations. And fourth, the Diploma 4 Event and MICE Management program, due to the current tourism policy based on events," he said.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, the Secretary of Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani, and all level 1 officials in the Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf environment.
