Idol Retires, Japanese Company Allows Employees to Take 10 Days Off

However, this is different from one of the companies in Japan. The company, called Hiroro Inc., maintains a balance between life and work for their employees. Namely, by allowing employees to take time off when their idol retires.

The company went viral after allowing employees to take a 10-day leave when their idol graduates or gets married. Even though the employees are not working, they are still paid. In addition, the company will provide additional days off for employees to recover when their mental health is affected by their idol's graduation.

This system is called the Oshi Vacation System, as quoted from Sora News24. It is divided into several parts, for the favorite oshi (idol) who graduates/retires, they are given a -10 day leave. Meanwhile, for the second favorite oshi, they are given a 3-day leave. Meanwhile, employees also receive a paid leave of 10 days when their oshi gets married.

2. Company's Reason

Hiroro Inc implemented this policy because they are a company in the entertainment industry. They often hold idol events and produce music videos for AKB48 members.

"I asked the employees and they experienced depression. So I felt very guilty. I also realized that the (leave for idols) system is something very important for them to work," said Itaru, the President of Hiroro Inc, as quoted from Kumparan.
