Indonesia Represented by PSM Makassar and Borneo FC, Ready to Compete in ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™

Kapanlagi.com - In order to win a prize of US$ 3 million in the ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup™ for the 2024/25 season, top football clubs in Southeast Asia will begin their journey. The inaugural annual club championship in this region will start in July, after the Official Draw is completed in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam today.

Fourteen top clubs from 10 ASEAN countries will participate in this competition, with 12 teams securing their positions to compete in the group stage. They will prepare to fight for the Shopee Cup™ title and be crowned as the best club in ASEAN.

Group Stage Matches

Young Elephants FC from Laos will face a team from Cambodia, Svay Rieng FC, while Kasuka FC from Brunei Darussalam will face a team from Myanmar, Shan United FC. They will play in the playoff round with home and away fixtures on July 17 and 24 to compete for the Shopee Cup™ position, before the group stage begins on August 21.

Two groups, each consisting of six teams, will face each other in five midweek matches with the results determined using a home and away round-robin system, and clubs from the same country will not meet each other in the initial phase.

Meaning, the representatives of the Thai League, namely BG Pathum United FC, have been drawn to join Group A to face Terengganu FC from Malaysia, PSM Makassar from Indonesia, and Ðông Á Thanh Hóa FC from Vietnam. They will compete for the top two positions to advance to the next knockout qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Group B consists of Buriram United FC from Thailand, Kuala Lumpur City FC from Malaysia, Công An Hà Nội FC from Vietnam, and Borneo FC from Indonesia. Kaya FC from the Philippines and Lion City Sailors from Singapore also complete the list of participating clubs.

The top two winners from each group will advance to the semi-finals, which will be held on April 2 and April 30, 2025, with home and away fixtures, as well as the final round, which will take place on May 14 and May 21, 2025.
