Kejari Bontang Destroys 1.4 Kg of Methamphetamine, Mayor Reminds Unfinished Tasks

Kapanlagi.com - Evidence from several cases that have legal force was destroyed by the Bontang District Attorney's Office on Friday (17/11/2023). There were about 58 cases collected, one of the evidence being 1.4 kg which was also destroyed.

According to the Head of the Bontang District Attorney's Office, Samsul Arif, the evidence being destroyed is the result of seizures that have been legally binding in general criminal offenses. “This is the third destruction this year,” he said.

There are several types of evidence destroyed during that moment, ranging from 1.4 kilograms of sabu narcotics, explosive materials in the form of fish bombs, gambling equipment, sharp weapons, to alcoholic beverages.

Crime Threatening the Young Generation

According to the Mayor of Bontang, Basri Rase, the important purpose of the evidence destruction event is to provide education to the public that there are still crimes threatening. Of course, the biggest threat is targeting the younger generation. Not only because of malicious intent, but also because of social interaction and lack of moral education in society.

“This destruction activity is carried out with the hope of being able to have a deterrent effect on the perpetrators of crimes,” said Basri in his speech.

Remind That There Are Additional Tasks

Although the destruction of evidence has been carried out, the Mayor of Bontang reminded all law enforcers that there are still unfinished tasks. The war against drugs and other societal diseases must always be a priority agenda.

“On this occasion, I emphasize that it is our joint obligation to prevent and eradicate crimes as well as the distribution of narcotics, sharp weapons, clothing, and gambling equipment in Bontang City,” he said.

With the establishment of cooperation between stakeholders, he continued, it is possible for the Bontang Bersinar (clean from drugs) vision to be realized and not just a mere slogan. Concrete actions are needed, not just words, so that everyone must synergize.

“Starting from the National Narcotics Agency, the police, the military, the city government, institutions, NGOs, the community, must truly take progressive and integrated steps to fight against drugs. The Bontang City government is also committed to empowering the community from the lowest level of government by forming shining neighborhoods,” said Basri.

The way to carry out the destruction of evidence is quite diverse. Drugs such as methamphetamine, for example, are first crushed and dissolved in water. The water solution is then discarded.
