Mal Taman Anggrek Provides Creativity Space for Refugees on World Refugee Day

Kapanlagi.com - In commemoration of World Refugee Day in 2023, Mal Taman Anggrek collaborates with UNHCR Indonesia to provide a wider space for refugees from various countries to explore their talents and creativity. This event will be held on June 18-19, 2023 at The Anggrek Kitchens, Ground Floor.

The creativity space provided by Mal Taman Anggrek is in the form of a handicraft bazaar, which is the work of refugees. Visitors are treated to various unique handicrafts. In addition, visitors can also enjoy typical foods from around the world served directly by refugees. There is also a special performance that showcases cultural diversity and art in the form of a photo exhibition and various other interesting activities.

"Programs like this are like cultural exchanges, it's also fun. In addition to supporting refugees, as visitors we can enjoy some typical foods from their home countries and see live performances. The event is fun, I also bought some cute handicrafts at the bazaar," said one visitor who attended the bazaar.

The peak of this event took place on Monday (19/6) which was attended directly by Ann Maymann, as the Head of UNHCR Representative in Indonesia.

"The theme of this year's World Refugee Day is 'Hope away from home. A world where refugees are always included'. By celebrating World Refugee Day with us, you have shown that you stand with refugees. We must commit together to protect everyone who is forced to flee - whoever they are, wherever they come from, and whenever they are forced to flee," said Ann.

With the event that has been held, Mal Taman Anggrek hopes to create a meaningful impact and will work towards a brighter future, especially for refugees in Indonesia in accordance with the theme 'Hope away from home. A world where refugees are always included'.

Visitors to Mal Taman Anggrek can still make donations to refugees at the UNHCR fundraising booth located on the 4th floor until June 25, 2023.
