Related to Omnibus Law Demo, 129 Participants in Malang Still Undergoing Examination

Kapanlagi.com - A total of 129 participants in Malang are still undergoing examination at the Malang City Police. They are suspected perpetrators of anarchistic actions in the demonstration rejecting the Job Creation Law at the Malang City Regional Council Building and its surroundings.

The Malang City Police Chief, Commissioner Pol Leonardus Simamarta, stated that the detained participants are suspected perpetrators of the destruction that were successfully apprehended. They consist of university students, high school students, junior high school students, workers, and others.

"There are 59 university students, 14 high school students, 15 vocational school students, 2 junior high school students, 1 worker, 15 unemployed individuals, 1 security personnel, and 5 construction workers. A total of 124 males and 5 females," explained Leo at the Malang City Police, Friday (9/10).

1. Undergo Examination

Leo asserts that each person will undergo examination and their roles in the action will be mapped out. Officials have 24 hours after the official detention.

"We will conduct further investigation for 24 hours to determine the status of those who have been apprehended," he emphasized.

If there are elements that meet the requirements, legal proceedings will be carried out, but if no involvement or role in the act of destruction is found, they will be returned to their parents.

"Those who are not involved and have no role will be returned. If we do not see any connection to yesterday's incident, I will create a report for their return," he explained.

2. Dominance of Malang Residents

Meanwhile, among the perpetrators of the action who were apprehended, residents of Malang dominated, although participants from outside the city were also found, such as Jombang, Banyuwangi, and Pasuruan.

"There are also many who come from outside Malang. That's the composition," he explained.

A demonstration against the Job Creation Law in Malang City turned violent on Thursday (8/10). As a result of the incident, several facilities were damaged, vehicles were burned, and dozens of people were seriously injured.
