Tourist Missing in Mount Bromo Found Safe, SAR Team Evacuates Victims in Steep Valley

Kapanlagi.com - A tourist named Roni Nur Efendi (20) who was declared missing mysteriously in Blok Pusung Duwur, Mount Bromo area, East Java, was finally found safe. The victim was found in a valley in Emprit Mountain, Blok Pusung Duwur.

Syarif Hidayat, Head of the Data Evaluation and Reporting Sub-Division and Public Relations of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BB TNBTS), said that the victim was found around 11:30 am.

"Survivor named Roni Nur Efendi was found by the Joint SAR Team in Emprit Mountain, Blok Pusung Duwur, 200 meters radius in the southern valley. The location has a slope of 65 degrees," said Syarif Hidayat in his statement on Tuesday (21/6).

1. Evacuation in Steep Terrain

The SAR team had to descend a steep cliff. When found, the victim was weak and dehydrated. After recovery, the victim was evacuated using a stretcher.

"It was on the cliff or in the valley, the location was really difficult. The evacuation had to go down towards the sand sea," he said.

2. Chronology of Being Declared Missing

Roni went missing leaving behind personal belongings such as a motorcycle, helmet, jacket, and cellphone in Blok Pusung Duwur. The items were found by officers on Sunday (19/6) in Blok Pusung Duwur around 12:35 pm, after a garbage cleaning activity around the sand sea area.

In the evening around 4:30 pm, the owner's brother of the cellphone came to the resort office. At that time, a search was immediately conducted by the family and officers by combing through several locations without any results.

3. Victim Handed Over to Family

The search was continued on Monday (20/6) by the Joint SAR team by deploying 50 personnel from elements of TNBTS, TNI-Polri, Basarnas and BPBD. The team conducted a search around the initial discovery location.

"The survivor was evacuated to the PTN Gunung Penanjakan TNBTS resort office. After health observation by paramedics and recovery, the survivor along with the evidence was handed over to the representative of the family," explained Sarif.
