Very festive, Bontang City Carnival attracts more attention to various local cultures

The annual event, held since Saturday (21/10/2023) morning, is eagerly awaited by local residents and tourists from outside the area. Centered at Simpang Tiga Ramayana, Bontang City, East Kalimantan, this year's BCC offers a number of performances and activities that are very interesting.

Bontang Mayor Basri Rase said that BCC aims to preserve the existing culture in Indonesia, especially in Bontang City. Carnival with various cultural creativity can be a way to maintain that culture.

“Considering that Bontang City is a city that has cultural diversity, the Bontang City Government hopes that the community can preserve and develop customs and not forget our rich national culture, as well as provide knowledge to the younger generation,” said Basri during his opening speech at the main stage.

BCC Becomes a Moment of Cultural Introduction

He continued, this carnival is not just to enliven the Anniversary of Bontang City Government. It is more than that, the introduction of diverse cultures can broaden the community's knowledge about the wealth of Indonesian culture in Bontang City.

“The hope is to have a positive impact, among others, the first one is to motivate the community to know tourist attractions as other tourist destinations in Bontang City. Opening opportunities for small and medium enterprises, increasing their income,” said Basri.

The main goal of these efforts is economic growth in the tourism sector. Because, according to Basri, the tourism sector has a broad economic impact on small businesses in the community.

“All of this ultimately increases the Original Regional Income of Bontang City, which automatically improves the welfare of the people of Bontang City,” said Basri.
