India once again shakes the film industry with the release of THE GOAT LIFE, which premiered on Netflix on July 19, 2024. This India-American collaboration film is adapted from the 2008 novel titled AADUJEEVITHAM, one of the best-selling and most popular books in the Malayalam language. Written by Benyamin, this novel has been translated into 12 languages, including foreign languages. 

Directed and written by Blessy, and produced by Jimmy Jean-Louis and Steven Adams, THE GOAT LIFE is a survival drama that depicts a man's struggle in the Saudi desert, facing exploitation and the harshness of life as a migrant worker.

THE GOAT LIFE not only captivates the audience with its strong premise but also receives a flood of praise from critics and viewers. Many have praised this film for its success in presenting an emotional and stirring narrative about modern slavery and the suffering of migrant workers. This film tells the life journey of Najeeb Muhammed, an Indian migrant worker who decides to leave his monotonous life as a sand mining worker.

Together with his friend, Hakeem (played by K.R. Gokul), Najeeb set off to Saudi Arabia hoping to find a better job and a more decent life.

However, their language limitations and ignorance of the new environment inadvertently led them to be deceived by a labor recruiter. Unbeknownst to them, they were taken to a place filled with suffering and forced labor.

In the midst of a remote desert, they were forced to work on a sheep and camel farm under the supervision of a cruel Arab master.

Far from civilization, each day becomes a cycle of slavery and physical and mental torture, extinguishing their hopes for a better life.

In an increasingly unbearable situation, Najeeb and Hakeem meet Ibrahim Khadiri (played by Jimmy Jean-Louis), a worker from Africa. Together, they devise a dramatic escape plan to free themselves from the shackles of modern slavery.

Although they manage to escape, the freedom they seek comes with new challenges. The vast and harsh desert tests their physical and mental strength, revealing that their suffering is not yet over.
