This fight is a rematch from their previous match in 2023. Jefri Nichol was the first to challenge El Rumi because he was not satisfied with the result of the first match, which El won by points.

"Why is that? Because no one slept yesterday, I expected at least one of us to be knocked out in the ring yesterday, but it didn't happen, it was just points being poured out," Nichol said when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/6/2025).

Jefri hinted that although El Rumi was declared the winner by points, he still felt dominant as he showed no signs of fatigue or significant injuries after the fight. "No, at least if the punches landed, there should be some feeling. I came out clean yesterday," he continued.

For Jefri Nichol, a true victory in boxing is when the opponent is successfully knocked down, also known as a knockout (KO), not just winning on points. He even mentioned that he didn’t feel the impact of El Rumi's punches at that time. "Yesterday, there were indeed many punches that didn't land, but I didn't feel anything. They just touched," said the 26-year-old actor.

El Rumi responded to this challenge as a proving ground. He wants to show that his previous victory was indeed deserved, not because of a controversial decision. "Well, the reason I actually want to prove that I won yesterday because I deserved it. This second match is the proving ground," he said.

He also pointed out again that boxing is not just about the power of punches, but also about strategy and martial arts. "Boxing is a sport, there's an art to it, but when it comes to whether the punches hurt or not, in the end, what's important is going home with the belt," he stated.
