Behind the ongoing legal process, Kimberly Ryder carries another wound as a single mother. Since her divorce from Edward Akbar, Kimberly has had to answer various questions from her children about their father's whereabouts.
Kimberly admits that she always tries to answer the children's questions gently and with understanding. She realizes that Edward's absence has an emotional impact on her children.
"The children ask about their father? Of course they do," said Kimberly softly, when met at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Wednesday (18/6/2025).
"So far there hasn't been any visit from Mr. Edward. The purpose of mediation is to discuss those matters. But the reported party didn't show up," explained Machi Ahmad's legal counsel.
"Now the answer is, sorry, dad can't come yet. Because sometimes parents have strong feelings, and we can't help it. Sometimes it takes time to go through feelings, and maybe dad needs his own space right now," he revealed.
Although it's hard, Kimberly tries to give Edward space so that one day he can reconnect with the children. However, until now, there hasn't been a single visit from Edward since the beginning of the year.
Kimberly also admitted that she only receives child support from Edward without any emotional communication or direct attention. "So far, he has only been sending financial support for the children every month since the beginning of this year," she revealed.
She hopes that Edward can soon open up for a dialogue so that all issues can be resolved and the children can feel the presence of a father again.
"Let's meet so everything can be resolved quickly, and we can both move on with our lives. Everything will be more peaceful, right?" Kimberly said hopefully. /aal
