7 Portraits of Nunung Srimulat that Reveal Her Health Struggles, From Eye Surgery to Routine Check-Ups - Not Fasting Due to Doctor's Recommendation

The eye surgery that was delayed due to financial constraints was finally completed some time ago. However, Nunung's health issues did not stop there. The 61-year-old comedian still has to undergo regular check-ups to monitor her condition.  

"I have a check-up every month, after this from the diabetes doctor straight to the psychiatrist, because I have panic attacks, and I've run out of all my medication," Nunung revealed.  

In addition, blood tests have become an important routine for her. Nunung must ensure her kidneys remain healthy due to the many medications she consumes. "When I get a blood test, they also check my kidneys, because I take a lot of medication and I'm afraid something might happen, so it needs to be detected quickly. But hopefully, there’s nothing wrong," she said optimistically.  

Nunung is also facing challenges in observing the fasting during this year's Ramadan. She admitted that she is not fasting because she has to take medication regularly as per her doctor's advice. "I am not fasting because I have to keep taking my medication. I had previously asked the doctor if I could fast, but the doctor said not yet," she explained.  

In fact, last year while undergoing chemotherapy, Nunung was still able to fast without any issues. However, this time the doctor advised her to focus on her treatment. "Last year I fasted, you know, during chemo I fasted and it was fine. But now the doctor said not yet," she said.  

Despite facing various health challenges, Nunung remains grateful for what she is experiencing right now. For her, adherence to the doctor's advice and maintaining her spirit are the main keys to continue living with optimism.  

"I have a lot of work, Alhamdulillah, and my health is also Alhamdulillah. Because I undergo regular treatment, I follow the doctor's advice, I have to be happy," concluded Nunung.
