Aaliyah Massaid was chosen as the flag bearer of the red and white flag during the 2019 Indonesian Independence Day celebrations. At that time, the woman who is now the wife of Thariq Halilintar was tasked with raising the flag in the water at Sea World Indonesia. For the smooth execution of her duties, Aaliyah has conducted several training sessions for flag raising in the water.
Aaliyah initially admitted that she was afraid to perform the flag raising in the water. However, thanks to the skilled trainers present, Aaliyah, who was 17 years old at the time, confidently carried out her duties.
Aaliyah has been training with a skilled coach, but she still feels nervous. "I'm afraid of disappointing, the training isn't just once, there's more tomorrow. I hope it goes smoothly," said Aaliyah.
During this training moment, Aaliyah was accompanied by her mother and sister. Reza Artamevia and Zahwa Massaid are very supportive of Aaliyah's activity this time.
This second child of Reza Artamevia has never experienced the duty of being a flag bearer. The reason is that Aaliyah does home schooling.
"I'm very proud to be able to participate in the August 17th event. The opportunity isn't easy, I'm happy to get this chance," Aaliyah continued.
During the flag-raising ceremony, Aaliyah was in the water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Not a short time for a beginner level diver.
Being in the aquarium actually made Aaliyah a little panicked. "The key is to stay calm, but I am still panicking. If I have done it here 100 times, then I will try the sea," Aaliyah added.
"I feel more nervous hearing that 8,000 people are watching (the flag-raising). But God willing, with the support of the older siblings here," Aaliyah said again in front of the media crew at that time.
