8 Portraits of Cinta Laura Responding to Several Solutions to Overcome Air Pollution in Jakarta: Regulations Must Be Strict

Currently, Jakarta is still concerned about the increasingly severe air pollution problem. In relation to this matter, various solutions are being carried out by the government to address the problem. Along with this issue, actress and environmental activist Cinta Laura also speaks up.

She believes that there are several solutions circulating on social media that seem ridiculous. According to her, in order to truly reduce pollution, a truly strict regulation must be immediately implemented by the government.

If necessary, the regulation should also impose sanctions on vehicles that emit excessive carbon dioxide.

"Actually, there are several solutions on social media that might be a little silly, but I don't want to say which ones," said Cinta Laura Kiehl when met in the Bangka area, South Jakarta, (5/9) Tuesday afternoon.

"The best way to handle pollution is probably to make strict rules and really enforce them with sanctions, where if there are vehicles that emit high levels of carbon dioxide, they are not allowed to be used on the road," she continued.

Other systems like the odd-even policy implemented in Jakarta are actually considered effective in reducing the number of vehicles that cause pollution.

Cinta Laura then explained about waste which, without realizing it, can also become a source of air pollution.

"In addition to odd-even policy, there must be another system that reduces the number of vehicles on the road so that we can overcome traffic jams and air pollution. Third, if people are not aware, the waste we dispose of, especially the waste that becomes waste, eventually releases substances that also damage the quality of the air we breathe," she said.

In addition, the government's step in implementing the Work From Home (WFH) system for civil servants to reduce pollution is also considered beneficial, depending on the industry.

"On one hand, during the pandemic, Jakarta is not congested at all and the air is cleaner, but my concern is whether WFH will make people work productively and efficiently, it depends on the industry," she concluded.Â
