Legendary musician Iwan Fals shares a story about his support for his child, Raya Rambu Rabbani, who chose a career in music instead of continuing education to college. Iwan Fals revealed that Raya prefers to be a drummer and decided not to pursue further studies. Check out the complete story below!
"He chose music as a way of life. I asked him, don’t you want to continue school? Go to college to become an engineer, a doctor, a professor? But he chose music. Well, I can’t do anything about it," said Iwan Fals in the Ampera area, South Jakarta, Monday (29/7/2024).Â
From the experience of Iwan Fals, the challenge that Raya will face in her musical journey is the boredom that often comes.
"At some point, if you get bored, this music, especially the creative process, the challenge is boredom, absolute boredom. It's us versus us," he said, showing how difficult it is to maintain enthusiasm in the music world.
The person whose full name is Virgiawan Liestanto also recounted that initially Raya learned drumming from a drummer who accompanied her all this time. Â "Raya used to take drum lessons from my drummer. Well, you can just learn from me. She wanted to be my drummer, and thankfully we could meet continuously," reminisced Iwan.
In addition, like his other children, Iwan Fals also created a song for Raya. Now, the album that was released a decade ago is being re-released, and Iwan Fals is grateful that the process went smoothly without any issues.Â
"I started this business myself 10 years ago in 2013 because when you start your own business, the capital is limited, so I could only record, and I couldn't afford promotion and everything else. It just happened that way," he explained.
"But a few days ago, Cikal said, 'Dad, Uncle Once and Steve want to sell the Raya album.' Wow, that's been a long time. They want to distribute it to 700 KFC outlets across Indonesia. 'Are you serious?' 'Serious,' Cikal said," Iwan continued.
Of course, Rosana's husband did not waste this opportunity. For that, he expresses his gratitude to everyone who has been involved and helped. Â "Yes, Alhamdulillah. Yes, thank you, Once, now this song can be heard by everyone, whereas before not many people listened. Even Once didn't know, right?" concluded Iwan Fals with a sense of gratitude.
