8 Portraits of Kris Dayanti Who Finally Decided to Run for Mayor of Batu, Admits to Having Doubts and Anxiety

For several months now, Kris Dayanti has been touted as a candidate for the mayor of Batu. It’s no surprise that her story garnered much attention.

After the story drew mixed reactions, it wasn't long before Kris Dayanti deleted it. When met by the media, the singer of the song Pilihlah Aku stated that she decided not to withdraw.

"My post yesterday received a variety of responses. That made me realize that the grassroots have started to move. Insha Allah, I will run in the Batu mayoral election in 2024," said Kris Dayanti when met at her residence in Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Friday night (23/8/2024).

When announcing her decision to withdraw, Kris Dayanti admitted that she was feeling overwhelmed. This was related to her readiness to leave her husband and children if she pursued the mayoral position in Batu. 

"I am faced with the position of a woman, wife, and mother who is undergoing a significant transition and will take on a big responsibility. I feel that this year I am confronted with legislative and executive contests, and to be honest, as I approach the end of my term in the Indonesian House of Representatives, there is certainly a bit of doubt and anxiety," she said.

However, after careful consideration, Kris Dayanti changed her decision. She is very confident to run in the mayoral election of Batu with the work program that has been prepared.

"There is a slight feeling of guilt for having to leave my responsibilities as a wife and mother. With God's permission, my husband and children, and the supporting family, there is no turning back; I will move forward and work for the people together with the people," she concluded.

Kris Dayanti is indeed quite close to the people of Batu and Malang - East Java. She often greets them while on duty and has even invited her beloved granddaughter Ameena along.
