Abdee Slank Remembers Mother Iffet, Admits Still Having Debts and Being Asked to Quickly Find a Partner - Still Remembering the First Words of the Late One in 1997

Mother Iffet has been buried at TPU Karet Bivak, Jakarta, on Sunday (27/4/2025). The burial process itself was emotional and attended by the members of Slank. In addition to Kaka and Bimbim, three other members, namely Ivan, Abdee, and Ridho also came to pay their last respects.

For Abdee, the departure of Mother Iffet leaves a deep sense of loss. He even admitted that he still has debts that he hasn't had the chance to repay to someone he considered family.

"I have a debt to take Mother out to eat, I didn't get the chance because Mother was sick," said Abdee at TPU Karet Bivak, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (27/4/2025). Here are the details.

Remembering the message that was once given by Mother Iffet, Abdee mentioned that the late woman’s concern was so great, not only for Slank but also for her personal matters. He still clearly remembers the simple message that Mother often expressed. "Mother is about messages or legacies, what I remember is always her concern, because if I often, for example, 'Abdee, hurry up and find a partner', for instance," said Abdee.

Not only personal matters, Mother Iffet's attention also encompassed big issues like the state of governance. According to Abdee, the late woman often asked about the developments in the country. "And secondly, whenever she met me, she'd ask 'how's the government?', 'it's doing well', so her concern didn't stop at her children or Slank, Mother was very concerned about the government," said Abdee.

In Slank's dynamic career journey, Mother Iffet often provided her own perspective on the band's attitude. According to Abdee, the late woman could even be tougher in giving input. "We Slank protest, sometimes Mother has her own thoughts, sometimes she would say 'don't take it too personally with the government, people are just working'," revealed Abdee.

Abdee's emotional closeness with Bunda Iffet has been established since he first joined Slank in 1997. He recalls the first sentence that Bunda Iffet said to him. "I also remember the first sentence that she said to me. When I first joined in '97, she said, 'Abdee, you are family in Sulawesi, so now in Jakarta, consider Bunda as your mother, your family. That made me not think about various things anymore," said Abdee.

For Ivanka, Bunda Iffet is a figure of a warrior who is willing to sacrifice for the people around her. She even feels closer to Bunda than to her own biological mother. "For me, Bunda is a warrior who is willing to sacrifice her time, her soul and body, for others. I am not family but I am treated like her own sister," said Ivanka.

Bunda Iffet's struggle to help the Slank children escape from the clutches of drugs also left a lasting memory in Ivanka's heart. She considers what Bunda did to be something extraordinary. "Bunda is someone who might be closer than my own mother. Bunda's struggle to ensure her children could break free from drugs is phenomenal," said Ivanka.

Slank's current condition is seen as the result of the long struggle that Bunda Iffet undertook. Ivanka also expressed her gratitude for this significant change. "And thank God we are like this now, still giving messages, we are giving messages to our children, the nation's generation. The best Bunda," said Ivanka.

For Abdee, even though Bunda Iffet is no longer with us, the spirit and values she taught will continue to live on in Slank's journey ahead. He believes that physical loss will not diminish Bunda's presence in their hearts. "For me, Bunda is like a mother on the road. We've been on this journey for decades and Bunda has shaped many aspects of me that I don't even share, and she cares about that. It's like a physical loss, but her spirit remains with Slank," concluded Abdee.
