Adinda Thomas Relies on Maudy Koesnaedi's Guidance to Build Chemistry in the Film 'BELIEVE'

Kapanlagi.com - Actress Adinda Thomas is trusted to play the character Evi in the war film BELIEVE – Destiny, Dreams, Courage. In this film, Evi is the wife of Agus (Ajil Ditto), a young soldier who must fight on the battlefield. Adinda also revealed how she built chemistry with Ajil amidst the dynamics of their characters' relationship.

"Because in the film Evi eventually marries Agus, we had to discuss the boundaries and how to build the character from the start," said Adinda Thomas when met at the trailer launch of Believe in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (3/6/2025).

1. Adinda Thomas' Biggest Challenge

According to Adinda, the biggest challenge actually comes when she has to portray emotional scenes that she has never experienced. For that, she discussed a lot with the other actors and received direct guidance from Maudy Koesnaedi.

"There are many scenes that I really remember, I can't do them because I don't have that experience. I just rely on Ms. Maudy's guidance," she said.

2. Maudy Koesnaedi Happy to Star in This Film

Maudy herself feels happy to be involved in this film, even though her role is not very significant. She mentioned that the shooting process of Believe was very memorable because it was full of struggles and collaboration among the cast and crew.

"It was really fun for me and Adinda to be in one scene together for a day and meet the main cast directly," Maudy revealed.

3. The Setting of the Story in 1995 and 1999

This film directed by Rahabi Mandra and Arwin Tri Wardhana presents the backdrop of the true story of Operation Seroja and the East Timor conflict in 1995 and 1999. The production team conducted in-depth research, including searching for camouflage costumes appropriate for the era and authentic weapons of that time.

"What we are presenting now is just the cast and the director. Listening to the costume designers who have been very confused thinking about the camouflage from '75, '80, '90, that's incredible," said Maudy.

4. Ajil Ditto Feels Challenged

With a script that allows freedom as long as it remains in a positive direction, Ajil Ditto also feels challenged to create the character Agus from his own perspective. He did not have the chance to meet the original figure directly, but he dug deep from sources and biographies that formed the basis of the story.

"So from that, it's already very sufficient because I have read the book, and there is already a strong reference," said Ajil.

5. Screening on July 24, 2025

The film Believe is the debut of the production house Bahagia Tanpa Drama. In addition to Ajil, Adinda, and Maudy, this film also stars Marthino Lio, Wafda Saifan, M. Iqbal Sulaiman, and child actor Muhammad Faqih Alaydrus.

It is planned that BELIEVE – Destiny, Dreams, Courage will be screened simultaneously in cinemas across Indonesia starting July 24, 2025.
