Kapanlagi.com - Defendant Gaga Muhammad appeared in another trial regarding a traffic accident at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday (30/12/2021). This time, Gaga Muhammad provided a statement about the accident that occurred in 2019.
In addition to listening to Gaga's statement, a factual witness was also present. The witness presented was the driver of Gaga Muhammad's mother.
In the trial, Gaga Muhammad described the accident that caused his ex-girlfriend, Laura Anna, to become paralyzed. When asked by the judges about the accident he experienced, Gaga admitted that he had briefly fallen asleep during the incident.
"I fell asleep for a moment, then woke up, there was a truck in front, so I pressed the brakes, but ended up accelerating. I saw the right side was empty, so I turned the steering wheel to the right, but it turned out there was a car on the right, and a collision occurred, causing the car to overturn," said Gaga Muhammad in the trial, Thursday (30/12/2021).

Gaga Muhammad had an accident on the Jagorawi toll road, KM 10, in 2019. Apparently, before the incident, Gaga Muhammad and Laura went to a club in the SCBD area. From there, Gaga Muhammad had a meal in the Blok M area of South Jakarta.
"Laura and I went to a club in the SCBD area with some friends. Around 8 o'clock, we went home, had a meal in Blok M, not long after that, around 3 o'clock, we headed home," he said.

In that nightclub, Gaga also admitted to the judges that he had consumed two to three glasses of alcoholic beverages.
"Drinking alcohol, had two to three glasses of gin and tonic," he said.

After that, Gaga Muhammad and his girlfriend at the time, Laura Anna, immediately headed home. Driving a Toyota Altis car, Gaga admitted that during the journey home, the speed of the car he was driving was only 80 to 90 km/h. Considering the road conditions at that time were empty.
"Approximately 80-90 km," said Gaga.

In the trial, Gaga Muhammad also expressed regret to the judges.
"I deeply regret this incident that caused someone (Laura Anna) to be injured," he said.
Meanwhile, after the trial, Gaga Muhammad's lawyer, Fahmi Bachmid, stated that his client deeply regretted the accident due to his negligence.

"Gaga Muhammad has been examined, has conveyed everything and he also expressed regret for the incident and he also apologized. Indeed, he was at fault and careless because when he was tired, he still insisted on driving the car," said Fahmi.
"So, he was momentarily dazed or in other words, he was momentarily sleepy. So, when he opened his eyes, there was a car in front of him and instead of stepping on the brakes, he accidentally stepped on the accelerator, causing his car to crash like that," Fahmi concluded.

In this hearing, Gaga Muhammad's parents, his father Asep Yusman and his mother Janariah, were present to witness their child's trial. Likewise, his sister Laura Anna, Greta Irene, also attended the trial. The trial is planned to continue on January 4th. The scene for the trial is the demand from the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
